Background information:

Syria Bright Future is a humanitarian , nongovernmental and nonprofit organization . Raising awareness of the public and empowering people to use their capabilities and develop them to enhance Mental Health and psychosocial wellbeing is a priority for SBF .In 2012 , after the start of Syrian Crisis , The founders of Syria Bright Future moved into Jordan where they started a volunteering initiative called (How are you ) to provide psychosocial support , it was merely a group of visits to Syrian refugees including patients who have Mental Health Problems and wounded people .In 2013 the Syria Bright Future was registered officially in Jordan by Jordanian MHPSS specialists under the name of (The Bright Future for Mental Health ) . Then they started implementation of projects related to protection and and MHPSS in Amman , Erbid and Alzatari Camp ; At the same time Activities of the organization continued inside Syria .After that the Syria Bright Future has reached a stage where it can provide Protection and MHPSS services in neighboring countries like Turkey

Job Description:

The Child Protection Program Officer will supervise the Child Protection programming for displaced Syrian children and youth. This includes management of the Child Friendly Spaces (CFS), Youth Empowerment Program (YEP), and case management programs. In addition to supporting psychosocial, recreational, and skill-building activities with children and youth, programming also includes engaging parents such as through parenting skills sessions; mainstreaming GBV prevention with youth; training service providers on Child Protection Minimum Standards; and working with the wider community to build community-based mechanisms for prevention and response. Special focus will be given to vulnerable groups, such as inclusion of children with disabilities. He/she will report to Protection Coordinator in Gaziantepe.

· Conduct Child Protection needs assessments among the affected populations.

· Support the development of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) programming and contribute to overall Protection programming, including relevant program materials and tools.

· Supervise Child Protection teams across sites to ensure service delivery according to minimum standards.

· Participate in Cluster and working group meetings and coordination.

· Support in writing of new proposals

· Supervise Child Friendly Space (CFS) program in Northern Syria to provide psychosocial support and recreational activities for children 4-14 years of age, through CFS centers and mobile teams.

· Lead Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) to provide psychosocial support, life skills sessions, and skill-building activities for youth 15-18 years of age, through YEP centers and mobile teams.

· Support CFS and YEP teams to engage parents and conduct parenting skills sessions, as well as other community-based Child Protection awareness sessions and activities.

· Identify and support local partners to design and implement Child Protection projects.

· Develop and update capacity-building plan for staff and partners through conducting on-the-job supervision and assessment to evaluate key competencies and training needs.

· Train CFS Animators, YEP Facilitators, and other Child Protection staff/partners in CPiE, Psychological First Aid (PFA) for Children, Child Protection Case Management, and other relevant trainings as appropriate.

· Support the development of a Child Protection Policy (CPP) and Child Protection Committees (CPCs) in program sites, with engagement with local leaders and other service providers for promotion of a child-friendly environment.

· Build mainstreaming of CP prevention and response with service providers and the overall humanitarian response, including through training of service providers and identification and advocacy on Child Protection concerns.

· Program Management & Coordination Responsibilities :

· Provide continual technical support and monitoring of Child Protection program activities to support capacity-building and ensure minimum standards for CPiE.

· Support team-building and professional development of staff, including through regular performance appraisals.

· Ensure participation from beneficiaries in program development, implementation, and evaluation and feedback mechanisms for accountability.

· Work closely with support departments to support program administration and operations of activities in program sites.

M&E and Reporting

· Support the development of appropriate M&E tools and the collection of program data from program sites on a weekly basis.

· Ensure disaggregated and cumulative tracking of clients/beneficiaries and documentation of all activities and outcomes.

· Support in identification and tracking of Child Protection concerns and patterns and trends.

· Participate in preparation of internal and external reports, including submission of weekly reports and quarterly reports for donors.

· Maintain program files and documentation as per program management minimum standards, including maintaining the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data.

· Ensure programming is on track to meet objectives; report daily on important issues that are cross-cutting and/or require supervisor feedback and decision making by the Protection team.

· Other tasks as necessary.

REPORTING

· The CP Program Officer reports to the Protection Coordinator and receives technical support from the relevant Technical Support Unit.

· The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Qualifications:

· University degree in related field .

· Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian work, preferably in an emergency context.

· Substantial experience in Child Protection and/or Protection, including in conflict settings and with IDPs and refugees.

· Demonstrable technical expertise in the assessment of, design, and delivery of child- and youth focused programming, including:

· Age-specific recreational and psychosocial activities with children;

· Familiarity with empowerment, life skills, and vocational approaches with youth;

· Family- and community-based approaches to Child Protection and psychosocial support.

· Strong experience in training on Child Protection technical areas with a variety of stakeholders. Experience with capacity-building approaches and building capacities of teams and partners in Child Protection.

· Experience with participatory approaches and working with vulnerable groups, including gender mainstreaming and with persons with disabilities.

· Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles, Protection frameworks and tools, and Child Protection minimum standards.

· Strong program management skills, particularly team-building and problem-solving.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Honest, hard-working and a self-motivated person.

· Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and the ability to work within different cultural environments.

· Flexibility and can cope with stressful workload and working with limited resources.

· Ability to travel on short notice to project sites.

· Being a Syrian National

· English language proficiency is essential and knowledge of Turkish language is considered an asset
