Free Press Unlimited is currently supporting an alliance of a few independent media organizations in the Middle East committed to the highest standards of journalism and unimpeded freedom of speech. Free Press Unlimited has planned a diverse learning programme in order to help the organisations to improve their content and work.
For this purpose Free Press Unlimited is seeking a Senior Radio Editorial & Production manager consultant who has the relevant expertise to contribute to the programme. The consultant is expected to follow up on an organisational SWOT analysis concentrating on the editorial work flow efficiency and effectiveness. The hands-on, practical tailored-made program will aim to create a revised editorial policy and strategy to deal with changing environment and expansion. The consultant will deal with conversion in media as well as good practices and advice on how to run a multi thematic media organisation (online, radio, video production)
Job responsibilities:
Teaching trainees to:
- Analyse and evaluate the current organization vision and mission
- Advise on work flow, policy, strategy
- Revise the editorial policy regarding for example breaking news and selection of stories
- Define a clear criteria regarding selection of stories, how to follow up a story
- Advise on the value of including women's voices in editorial output (balance reporting)
Other responsibilities:
- To contribute with theory and reference work to support advice given
- To produce/adjust if necessary learning tools
- To have good assessment tools that can be used to evaluate the impact of the consultancy
- To report on the results of the consultancy and give recommendations to the organisation and Free Press Unlimited.
We’re looking for an energetic and driven individual with:
- Proven educational background (media management, editorial, and AV production)
- Relevant work experience as a consultant in a similar or the designated field
- Five-year experience in editorial AV production and/or newsroom
- Outstanding communication and training skills
- Ability to monitor, evaluate, and recognise weaknesses and strengths of the target
- Flexible, energetic, and challenge aspiring
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is key requirement
- Fluency in English is an advantage
