MI has been registered in Türkiye since 2014 and has since built up its own office structure. MI now has two offices in south-eastern Türkiye (Kilis and Gaziantep). The Malteser International team provides technical guidance and oversees the management and administration of the partner-implemented projects in Türkiye and Northern Syria. MI is responsible for procuring the main medical supplies in Türkiye, the reporting, and application, and the quality assurance. In addition to the implementation of humanitarian and development aid projects, Malteser International´s strategic objective is the strengthening of the civil society structures in Türkiye and Syria. Malteser International focuses in Northwest Syria and Türkiye on the sectors of health, WASH, livelihood, protection as well as social cohesion.
For its work in Türkiye and Northwest Syria, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Country Coordinator.
Under overall guidance of the Head of Regional Department and under supervision of the HQ Program Manager, you as Country Coordinator will represent Malteser International in Türkiye and North-west Syria and develop its presence in the countries according to context-specific strategic and coherent goals. You will coordinate and supervise the portfolio team of Malteser International in Türkiye and provide guidance and technical support to project teams and partners to achieve set targets. You will ensure all program implementation is done per Malteser International’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Your responsibilities:
- Oversee program operations in compliance with Malteser International as well as donor regulations and procedures including responsibility for budget oversight and donor grant management
- Responsible for program development incl. assessment missions, proposal preparation, and extension of donor and activity portfolio
- Contribute to the development of MI´s portfolio strategy in Türkiye and Northwestern Syria.
- Establish and maintain mechanisms/tools/surveillance systems and capacities in cooperation with the local partner organization for close monitoring and evaluation of activities and their quality and impact
- Management and supervision of national staff with technical and managerial support to all team members in fulfillment of their duties according to project objectives
- Develop staff capacity to ensure that staff can fulfill the required administrative, financial, and project cycle management targets
- Active networking and representation of MI in Türkiye vis-à-vis national authorities, national and international institutions, organizations, partners, and donors
- Ensure implementation of security guidelines, monitor the overall security situation, and adapt program implementation accordingly
Your profile:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a country responsible for an international NGO, with a proven track record of successfully implementing a country program that is in line with international and donor standards
- Relevant master’s degree, e.g., in management of humanitarian relief, economics, social sciences, or comparable
- Proven leadership and management skillset through experience in leading, supporting, and coaching teams in a trustful and culturally sensitive way
- Excellent English communication skills including the ability to effectively motivate people and diplomatically build and manage relationships with different authorities, donors, and partner organizations
- Arabic, Turkish or German language skills are an asset
- Sectoral experience in Health, WASH, and Protection as well as working experience in Türkiye/ North-western Syria would be an asset
What we offer:
- Start Date: 01/06/2023
- Duty Station: Gaziantep, Türkiye (with frequent travel to field locations)
- Duration of contract: 12 months (extendable)
- Salary according to qualification and experience, insurance package, accommodation in the team house, one home flight per year of employment
