Turkey: Social Media Trainer for Middle East project

Free Press Unlimited is currently supporting an alliance of a few independent media organizations in the Middle East committed to the highest standards of journalism and unimpeded freedom of speech. Free Press Unlimited has planned a diverse learning programme in order to help the organisations to improve their content and work.

For this purpose Free Press Unlimited is seeking a Social Media Trainer who has the relevant expertise to contribute to the programme. The trainer is expected to implement a course design and hold a 3 days-workshop for a group of six (6) editors. This is aimed to help the organization developing a social media strategy & produce social media content which attracts more readers. The trainees have experience in working as journalists and editors for a Middle-Eastern media outlet. The training will focus on enhancing their editorial and strategical capabilities. It is expected that the trainer, together with a senior coach/trainer, will contribute with methodology and tools. The cooperation is aimed to keep synergy and continuity in the learning programme as well as being result oriented. The workshops will be on intermediate-professional level, however the needs assessment results will be the guideline to a tailor made course design.

Job responsibilities:

  • To train a group of editors to develop a social media strategy
  • To teach the target about possible impact and professional use of social media in sensitive settings
  • To contribute with theory and reference work to support the methodology of the training
  • To produce/adjust if necessary learning tools
  • To have good assessment tools that can be used to evaluate the training and the trainees' performances
  • To report on the results of the training and give recommendations to the trainees, the organisations where the trainees come from and to Free Press Unlimited

We’re looking for an energetic and driven individual with:

  • Proven educational background and/or work experience as a trainer in a similar or the designated field
  • Background in creative profession or affinity with creative techniques
  • Proven experience in online/social media journalism, preferably related to Middle East
  • Knowledge on effective social media strategies
  • Outstanding communication and training skills
  • Ability to motivate others and work in a flexible environment
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate, and recognise weaknesses and strengths of the trainees
  • Flexible, creative, and challenge aspiring
  • Proficiency in Arabic is key requirement
  • and English knowledge is a big advantage
