About Horan Foundation
HORAN FOUNDATION is a Syrian-focused non-profit organization working in Syria and countries of asylum with no discrimination. Through emergency interventions, meeting their basic needs, and implementing highly competent community development programs.
HORAN FOUNDATION was established with the escalation of the Syrian crisis at the beginning of 2012 in Jordan and registered in Turkey in2014 and Switzerland in 2016, where it started as a group of friends to provide emergency humanitarian assistance in Daraa and its countryside. Since then, HORAN FOUNDATION has developed to become one of the largest organization supporting the Syrian people, through the implementation of 350 projects that helped the lives of more than 10 million beneficiaries throughout the Syrian territory and neighboring countries of asylum, and also contributed to the establishment of the Platform of Syrian Associations (Minber Suriye), one of the most important coordination platforms for humanitarian workers in the Syrian affairs. It has the membership of the NGO Forum and membership in Syrian Networks and membership in the Forum for the Voice of the displaced Syrians.
Overall Purpose:
Under the overall supervision of the Protection Department and the direct supervision of the Project Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for working closely with the affected communities in activities for Horan’s community-based protection interventions. S/he will be working closely with the community leaders, government authorities, and other stakeholders for any related activities and services of the Mobile Outreach Team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments of Syrian refugees in Hatay as required according to Horan guidelines, including organizing and leading focus group discussions.
- Record and input assessment of data as required.
- Work closely with implementing partners, local authorities, area representatives and other stakeholders to identify areas, activities and topics for Horan’s community-based protection interventions.
- Maintain positive relationships with beneficiaries, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and analyse the families/individual demands and needs through listening and dialogue, problems and nature of expressed needs (health, education, work, finance, legal etc.) and refer to appropriate colleagues and service providers.
- Plan thematic groups of discussions in the targeted villages/neighborhoods according to identified needs in villages/neighborhoods and in consultation with key informants.
- Coordinate with the team members (Social Workers) to refer cases for case management or for psychosocial support activities.
- Assist in preparing materials needed for family support sessions, counselling services, recreational and rights-based activities for children, community mobilization, awareness sessions, and informal education activities.
- Prepare reports on the sessions conducted and map existing needs.
- Raise awareness of the services that will be provided by the outreach team and the dates of the visits.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- A university degree of relevant field of study (e.g. bachelor of Psychological counselling/Psychology or any related field of study.
- Previous experience working on Outreach is 1 year at least.
- Experience in humanitarian and emergency assistance.
- Proven experience working with the beneficiaries, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Proven experience in various activities and topics for community-based protection interventions.
- Previous experience in family support sessions and counselling services is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and with a team in the same time.
- Intermediate written and spoken in Turkish and /or Advance written and spoken in Arabic
- Administrative skills
- Good skills in Microsoft office software
