Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host communities through 20 healthcare facilities and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Responsibilities:

The Finance Coordinator leads the Finance Team and general financial management of IDA. He /she works under the direct supervision of the Deputy General Director for Operations and assists him/her in the development of project financial strategy, financial monitoring, financial plans and keeping eyes on all financial activities of the projects.

Specific responsibilities:

  1. He / she assists the Deputy General Director for Operations on fundraising/ budgets compilation for projects implemented by IDA as well as on the preparation of budget reallocations whenever needed, communicates with donors as necessary.
  2. Under the guidance of the GDDO, directly communicating with the donors for presenting interim and final financial project reports as per the signed project agreements complying with the regulations of the donor.
  3. Checking monthly financial reports and transfer requests from the donors as per the signed agreements.
  4. Together with the Deputy General Director for Operations, he approves all expenditures of the projects as per procedures.
  5. Contact with IDA´s Turkish Accountant to make sure that all necessary report to the Turkish Tax
  6. Authorities is made on monthly basis and all financial regulations are strictly respected.
  7. Preparing monthly cash flow reports and sending them to the line manager.
  8. Maintaining regular contact with the Banks and making regular cash withdrawals after approval of the General Director.
  9. Reviewing and proposing revision of all financial procedures and policies time-to-time as necessary.
  10. Ensure internal training and workshops on Finance for IDA team as needed.
  11. Reviewing and revising monthly financial reports from the Finance Officers. Financial information is forwarded to the General Director for his information and review.
  12. Verifying monthly staff payroll prepared by the HR Department and making sure that the salary is paid as per correct calculations to all IDA´s staff wherever they are posted
  13. The Finance Coordinator oversees the audit preparation and auditing process and makes sure that all concerning points and recommendations in the audit reports are communicated and addressed in time for corrective measures.
  14. Conducting yearly performance evaluation of IDA´s Finance Team and suggesting capacity building needs.
  15. Ensuring that utmost confidentiality of the organizational information is maintained by all staff of the department during and after the assignment.
  16. The Finance Coordinator carries out other duties as requested by his/her Direct Supervisor.

Competencies:

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • B.A in Business administration or any other related field.
  • more than 4 years of experience in Finance Management.
  • Experience working within a humanitarian context;
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is essential, both written and verbal;
  • Good IT skills, including Excel and Word;

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the context in Turkey.
  • Good standing and reputation in the community
  • Experience of working with local partners;
