Turkey: Arabic Copy Editor

Main Responsibilities

• Correcting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in Arabic
• Sub-editing text written by a number of authors to ensure consistent house style
• Working with IT based publishing systems and databases as well as via the internet
• Checking that authors have provided all required materials and paperwork
• Liaising regularly with authors by phone and email
• Resolving queries directly with the author such as style and text inconsistencies
• Creating artwork briefs to detail the content of illustrations
• Producing or working on a style checklist to ensure the consistency in hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references
• Retrieving articles from archives and rearranging within publications
• Typesetting and designing layout
• Ensuring that the publications are prepared on budget and to schedule
• Develop story and content ideas while being mindful of the audience
  Qualifications
  The position is open to all graduates, a degree in the following subjects is preferred”
• Publishing or publishing studies
• Journalism
• Media or electronic media
• Arabic literature
  Skills
• A thorough knowledge of Arabic language
• A methodical working style
• Concentration, accuracy and great attention to detail
• The ability to multitask
• Tact and diplomacy for negotiating changes with authors
• The ability to work to tight deadlines
• Self-motivation
• IT skills
