Global Communities is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.
Global Communities is anticipating programs funded by USAID/OFDA, UN OCHA, and DFID to deliver emergency relief items, implement shelter and food security programming, and support community protection and resilience in Northern Syria.
Global Communities is seeking a full-time Programs Director to oversee programming strategy development, daily program operations, coordination, and representation. This position is based in Global Communities' office in Gaziantep, Turkey and reports to the Country Representative, Turkey.
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Country Representative, oversee the development and implementation of the Global Communities-Turkey program strategy
Work with Program Managers to identify and respond to any acute programming challenges or shifts in programming
Work with the Program Managers and Finance Manager to track program budgets and expenditures, ensuring that programs are being implemented on-budget
Review program work plans with Program Managers
Work with the Operations Director and other senior staff to identify operational support needs to ensure the quality and efficiency of programming
Review and/or support the drafting of bi-weekly/monthly/quarterly program reports, and success stories as required
Represent Global Communities at relevant cluster/sector working group meetings as appropriate
Support and strengthen country office procedures and policies as necessary for effective program implementation
Supervise a team of approximately 4 expatriate Program Managers
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A Masters Degree in a related field
A minimum of 8 years of international development experience, at least 4 of which are specifically focused on program and/or operations management
A minimum of 3 years prior supervisory experience
A minimum of 3 years prior experience working in emergency, conflict, post-conflict, or post-disaster settings
