People in Need has been working in Syria since 2012 and, since 2013, has been implementing education projects in the Governorates of Idlib and Aleppo. In total, People in Need is providing support to 20 schools in the north of Syria through activities such as the provision of incentives to schools’ staff, providing teaching and learning materials to teachers and students, covering school operational cost, conducting psychosocial support to the students, and conducting rehabilitations and maintenance to the schools.
People in Need is seeking an Education Project Manager to oversee the education projects implemented in the north of Syria. The position will be based in PIN’s Gaziantep office and will include the remote management of a team in Syria on the ground. The Education Project Manager will be supervised by the Education Programme Manager

Duration: 12 month
The main tasks of the Education Project Manager are:
- Day-to-day management and supervision of education projects in Syria;
- Responsible for recruitment, training and development of the capacities of project staff;
- Coordination of activities with other stakeholders and humanitarian actors;
- Managing activities in line with PIN’s projects, Syria education strategy and sectorial guidelines;
- Developing and maintaining a database of project outputs, activity tracking, training evaluation and achieved results to provide information for both internal and external reporting;
- Responsible for the projects’ progress, spending plans and reporting (under the supervision of the Education Programme Manager);
- Coordinate with all other Program Managers on assessments, analysis, procedures and implementation;
- Participate on the evaluation and quality control of projects;
- Through close monitoring of the context, develop approaches and activities ensuring promotion of the Do No Harm principle;
- Contributing to the development of a Syria Education strategy;
- Help to identify trends in conditions/standards and donor priorities in education.
Suitable candidates for this position should possess:
- Experience of working within the education sector for a humanitarian organization;
- Familiarity with the humanitarian context in the north of Syria;
- Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts;
- Experience in budget management, reporting, and donor relations;
- Experience of managing staff, particularly through remote management;
- Strong critical analysis and problem solving skills;
- Fluency in English - both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is advantageous
