Position Summary: The Psychosocial Support Specialist will be responsible for strengthening the quality of RI’s psychosocial support programs which are a key part of the emergency response efforts and development programming to the Syrian crisis in Gaziantep. The PSS Specialist will work closely with education team in community centers.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
· Assist children and adolescents in gaining and utilizing skills necessary to participate successfully in school such as behavior control, social skills, academic improvement communication skills, appropriate interpersonal behavior, symptom management and coping skills.
· Provide strategies in designing planned interventions for challenging of children and adolescents.
· Assist children and adolescents in school, work skills, or with other issues related to their emotional disturbance by obtaining skills to live independently or by preventing movement to a more restrictive situation.
· Analyze and interpret children and adolescents’ functional level, assesses their independent living skills, assess current environment problems and community support network and determine children and adolescents’ eligibility for services.
· On site assessment, evaluation, and feedback sessions to identify student symptoms or behaviors.
· Support family in achieving rehabilitative goals, monitor medication compliance and provide emergency crisis intervention.
· Provide children and adolescents interventions in social skills training to improve communication skills and facilitate appropriate interpersonal behavior.
· Problem solving, support, supervision of students related to school activities.
· Observe children and adolescents, provide classroom & school support.
· Assist in development of behavior intervention plans.
· Teach and model positive social skills.
· Participate in scheduled team meetings to discuss children and adolescents progress.
· Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
Required Qualifications:
· This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
· Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, special education, counseling and psychosocial
· Professional experience in monitoring and evaluation of psychosocial programs, and feeding learning into program design.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning skills required.
· Fluency in Arabic; English and Turkish are pluses;
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently;
· Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to think critically and creatively;
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues.
· Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
· Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
