*Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Head of Office to be based in Hatay, South East Turke*y.

Who are we?

Danish Refugee Council has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.

DRC’s mission in Turkey is now expending and needs to cover the newly created position in Hatay. The overall objective for DRC in Turkey is the protection and promotion of durable solutions to displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC Turkey currently works with national partners in Sanliurfa, Izmir and Bodrum, and also carries out activities directly in Sanliurfa, Hatay, Marash and Kilis.

About the Job:

The Head of Office is responsible for all activities in their programme site. This responsibility covers the operational/support functions (Human Resources, Logistics, Finance & Admin, and Safety) and direct programme activities and includes coordination, programme planning and overseeing the day-to-day operations of senior field staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination and programme planning of the DRC teams.
  • Management of the DRC Base/Residence.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of senior staff.
  • Provide training and mentoring to the HR, logistics & finance staff.
  • Feed into strategy development including the proposal development process, supporting the process of developing high quality proposals and associated budgets.
  • Submit weekly reports and provide input for donor reports and proposals.
  • Coordination with the Government, Local Authorities, UN and NGOs.
  • Oversee HR issues in the field office.
  • Oversee the field finance department and ensure budget monitoring is accurate.
  • Implement other tasks as identified by the CD.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you must have the following qualifications:

Required

  • A Master’s degree in development studies, economics, international humanitarian law, humanitarian or human rights studies, sociology, psychology, protection or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant professional humanitarian experience with an international humanitarian aid organization, in complex emergencies.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role (strong managerial skills required), with several years in a programme management role.
  • Technical experience in livelihoods and cash program required, with some exposure to protection and protection and community services programming
  • Ability to deal with and build the capacity of duty-bearers such as authorities and ministries, LNGOs and other local authorities,
  • Extensive practical experience working with all steps of the project cycle management (needs assessments, proposal writing and development, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluating).
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and team and external relations.
  • Familiarity with EU-ECHO, DFID, UNHCR and US donor guidelines.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Arabic and/or Turkish is a strong advantage.
  • Previous DRC experience is a strong advantage.
  • Previous work experience in direct assistance (cash, voucher, in-kind), livelihoods, and protection and community services is a plus.

What we offer:

DRC Turkey offers an employment contract of 12 Months. The position level will be A14 and based in Antakya, Hatay, Unaccompanied and non-family duty station, with regular travel to other DRC Turkey offices in the country as directed. We offer a fair compensation package depending on your qualification and experiences as well as additional allowances such as relocation allowance and living allowances, if applicable. DRC Turkey is income tax exempted. Furthermore, DRC Turkey provides training opportunities to develop and strengthen the quality of its services as well as its staff members’ professional and personal development.

Start date: September 20, 2016
