ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/SCOPE OF WORK
Primary Responsibilities of this position
Provide psychiatric support to patients according to IMC principles and protocols in order to improve the patients’ mental health.
Specific Duties
Ethics
¨ Follow all ethical standards in his/her work with individuals, families and communities and maintain a personal living standard that serves as a positive role model.
¨ Maintain confidentiality of all clients.
¨ Provide treatment in the best interest of each client
¨ Provide treatment in line with nationally and locally defined professional standards and work within humanitarian guidelines principals
General Duties for MHPSS Program
¨ Providing psychiatric care for Syrian clients directly and through supporting medical doctors and other health care providers.
¨ Prescribe medications appropriately when necessary.
¨ Lead regular clinical case management, team meetings for interdisciplinary care of clients.
¨ Accept referrals from the case management team, from other NGOs, and from IMC’s primary health care doctors.
¨ Participate in IMC MHPSS meetings as arranged.
¨ Deliver mental health trainings and supervision to the multidisciplinary management team and primary health care doctors & MHGAP trained doctors.
¨ Provide clinical supervision to primary health care physicians during assessment of mental health cases.
¨ Facilitate the smooth operations of the mental health clinic by providing appropriate technical and administrative data and support to the team.
¨ Maintain case files for clients using IMC case management principals & protocols.
¨ Support multi-disciplinary team in the safe disengagement and discharge of clients from MHPSS services.
Reporting
¨ Report on all tasks and responsibilities to direct supervisor.
¨ Keep a daily record of all patients seen using Clinical Audit Sheet.
¨ Provide a weekly report of number of cases seen and diagnosis by age and gender as well as a source of referral using spreadsheets and collection tools provided
¨ Keep a record of attendance for any training provided.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum medical degree; preferably with a Master’s in Psychiatry
- Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Must have excellent self-motivation skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
- Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
- Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively
- Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources
- Excellent decision making skills
- Must work independently under difficult conditions
Language Skills: Arabic & English & preferably Turkish
Ability to read, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical English language documents and manuals.
Ability to write reports, and manuals.
Eligible to work legally in Turkey, (having residency)
