BACKGROUND:
PPM is a consultancy providing communications, research, and project implementation services in fragile and conflict-affected areas. Since 2013 PPM has been delivering effective programming in the region on behalf of government clients.
PPM seeks to employ, in its Istanbul office, a Budget Officer to maintain financial records of the ARK Group companies by accurately recording the day to day financial transactions into the regional finance database & accounting system and manage budgets of assigned projects whilst ensuring accurate reporting at all times.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Track all expenditures to ensure they are within the budget lines of each project.
• Check and verify source documents such as invoices, receipts in line with approval mechanism, financial procedures, compliance and donor requirements.
• Record tasked financial transactions to regional accounting software.
• Building project budgets, attend budget meetings, prepare budget forecasts and regularly update the Country Finance Manager for ongoing project related issues.
• Ensure all project related transactions entered into the accounting system are accurate and documented correctly.
• Responsible for year-end and end-of-project budget management. Conduct year-end financial closing of related budgets with grant officers and grant auditors if/when required.
• Organize/Archive project records according to compliance requirements of company/donor.
• Follows up on pending accounting and finance issues.
• Following up accruals, prepayments, deposits, insurance tracking
• Banks, cash and third parties reconciliations.
• Other administrative & financial duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 4 years University degree in finance/accounting.
• 2+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience.
• 1+ year of budget management experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Mature individual with attention to detail, able to work independently while adhering to tight deadline
• Functional competencies required: effective communicator, analytical thinker, active learner and team player.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of computer applications specially, MS Office and Outlook
• High degree of flexibility and adaptability required
• Effective communication skills
• Fluent in Turkish and English or Arabic is a plus
