Functional Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer, the Information Management Associate will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist with the maintenance, servicing and development of the IMSMA centralised mine action database for Syria, and associated reporting mechanisms and tools;
  • Assist with the verification and recording of all field data from implementing partners into the UNMAS database;
  • Perform quality assurance checks on reported data before, during and after data entry;
  • Produce statistics for monthly report as directed by the Information Management Officer;
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of comprehensive soft and hard archive system on a weekly basis;
  • Regularly review and update official forms as per the need of field activities in consultation with the Chief of Operations and Information Management Officer;
  • Regularly distribute of official forms to operations and implementers in consultation with the Chief of Operations and Information Management Officer;
  • Assist in preparation and printing of informative maps with mine action and other available data;
  • Maintain and contribute to the operations mapping archive;
  • Assist with the successful implementation of the standard working procedures for IT and information management to include the development of procedures, guidelines and manuals;
  • Perform data analysis & compile geographic data from a variety of sources upon request;
  • Support synchronizing all data between the main server and other databases;
  • Produce statistics, maps, charts, presentations and reports as required by Operations and Programme departments;
  • Assist with IT/Database training and technical assistance to UNMAS staff, implementing partners and external stakeholders as needed in the use of the Database & GIS where necessary;
  • Create photo catalogue from received photos from mine action activities;
  • Assist with IT and related general computer related issues;
  • Ensure that the partners and external stakeholders have access to accurate explosive management information products;
  • In the absence of the Information Officer report directly to the Chief of Operations;
  • Perform any other relevant task assigned by supervisor or senior management.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma with a minimum of six (6) years relevant experience OR a Bachelor's degree in IT, Data Processing, or any other related field with 2 years relevant experience is required.

Experience:

  • Excellent computer skills including MS. Office, Data Management software; experience in network administration is desired;
  • Knowledge of UN/UNOPS rules and regulations is desired;
  • Experience working in a multi-national / cultural environment is desired;
  • Experieince in ability in topographical map reading is desired;
  • Experience in Geographic Information Systems is desired;
  • Flexibility in undertaking any kind of assignment and able to work to tight deadlines;
  • Experience working with an International Organizations is desired.

Language:

  • Fluency in both English and Arabic languages (speaking, writing and reading) is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Turkish (speaking, writing and reading) is desired.

Contract type, level and duration
Contract type: Local ICA
Contract level: LICA-6 (ICS6)
Contract duration: 6 Months renewable subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance;
