About the mission
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is operating in Syria since December 2012.
Currently SI supports the Internally Displaced populations, and in a wider manner, the most vulnerable population in Aleppo Governorate by focusing on Livelihood issues
In addition, SI has developed a Livelihood intervention:
- A first project funded by HPF-OCHA finished
- This project had 2 main activities: cash for work for irrigation / drainage canals rehabilitation and home gardening / poultry distribution and support.
The main activities are:
- Veterinarian mobile clinic
- Distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds of wheat, barley and lentil and fertilizer)
- Distribution of 300 sheep
- Distribution of poultry

About the job
The Humanitarian Access Advisor supports the coordination team in evaluating security and access constrains for the humanitarian intervention of SI in Syria.
The Humanitarian Access Advisor will be in charge of analyzing the security and accessibility context in Northern Syria in order to provide the coordination team with useful information for the planning of SI humanitarian intervention.
In close link with the Head of Mission, the Humanitarian Access Advisor will monitor the general situation and provide with regular follow-up on security incidents and their humanitarian consequences.
Specific tasks of the positions:
- To support the Head of Mission in developing and adapting the security guidelines for the field team.
- To support the Head of Mission and the coordination team in developing a humanitarian intervention in safe areas and according to the humanitarian needs.
- To support the coordination team in implementing the program activities in accordance with the security context.
Key priorities:
- To establish and maintain a network of contacts and informal relations in Turkey and if possible inside Syria.
- To assess and report regularly on the security and access situation in Northern Syria by collecting information from formal and informal networks/from the field team/diversified media.
- To develop and update internal maps on safe and un-safe areas and share with the line manager.
- To participate to the different coordination mechanisms to better understand security and access issues.
Your profile
Experience:
- Masters’ degree or equivalent in law, political science, international organization management or program management or other relevant field.
- 3 years of professional humanitarian experience, with at least a positive experience in complex context follow-up and/or security management.
- Proven experience in conflict contexts and insecure environments, with consequent experience in supporting emergency response.
Skills:
- Experience related to security and humanitarian access issues
- Proven capacity to develop Standard Operational Processes in unstable environment
- Excellent understanding of NGOs, and particularly SI’s values and principles of intervention
- Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills, ability to multi-task and support and/or fill multiple positions at one time
- Capacitiy to provide distance support.
- Strong initiatives and improvisation capacities
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with team members
- Good stress management
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Used to work in political and security volatile environments
Language:
- Fluent English (written, spoken and read), essential for numerous external coordination and representation meetings with other NGOs, UN agencies, donors and governmental bodies.
- Fluent Middle Eastern Arabic mandatory (written, spoken and read) essential for information collection through social media and written media, communicating with the national staff and local stakeholders.
- Knowledge of French and/or Turkish would be serious asset.
IT:
- Computer literacy with very good command of MS Office Suite.

SI will offer you
A salaried post: according to experience from 1600 euros gross per month, plus 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, and a monthly Per Diem of 700 USD.
· Social and medical cover: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
· Vacation: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7-day break during the 3rd and the 9th month (with 500 euros allocated by Solidarités). He or she will also be entitled to go back to his or her home country for a 14-day period after six months spent on the mission (Solidarités will cover travel costs).
