Support to Life (STL) is a humanitarian aid agency founded with the principal objective of working with communities to help them meet their basic needs and rights. In line with its mandate STL has been operating in southern Turkey to provide humanitarian support to the civilian population who have been affected by the conflict in Syria and sought refuge in Turkey.
The main purpose of the role is to manage the nutrition programme and to provide technical assistance to the food security management team.
The Dietician/Nutritionist will be responsible for ensuring management of the nutrition programme and that it is executed in line with international humanitarian standards and donor guidelines. This position demands both technical knowledge, relevent work experience and an ability to manage, support and implement all aspects of STL’s nutrition programme. Additionally to build STL’s nutrition programme capacity in line with nutrition sector priorities and achive collaboration with other partners in the humanitarian and development sector.
STL is now looking for a Dietician/Nutritionist with the following specifications:
Core Responsibilities;
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Initiate and manage the nutrition awareness programme amongst beneficiaries benefiting from the food security e-voucher programme;
- Provide technical support to the food security management team on the operational efficiency of e-voucher programme;
- To take a lead role in expansion of STL’s nutrition programmes and to build capacity in areas such as IYCF-e, IMAM, nutrition surveys, Emergency component of micronutrient deficiency prevention and control activities;
- Guide the nutrition programme and team in collaboration with the management team;
- Initiate training and capacity building of nutrition officers and community focal individuals on nutrition programme related activities;
- Ensuring the effective performance of the nutrition officers and other staff hired for the nutrition team;
- Managing records, files, folders, and supportive documents of all implemented activities;
- Ensure that all data is duly recorded and reporting is based on actual achievements;
- Develop monitoring and evaluation plan of the activities
- Monitor nutrition programme impact and ensure that program data is valid and relevant, and used to inform programme development; Participate in drafting and editing reports and proposals with the management team.
- Report to the management team any problems arising during project implementation and provide recommendations for resolving these issues,
- Attending relevant meetings with stakeholders,
- Ensuring synergy with other STL programmes in the area of operation.
Qualification and Expertise;
Post Graduate in Dietetics/Human Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, relevant Medical field.
· At least 2+ years of experience in managing nutrition treatment and prevention programs in underdeveloped/crisis contexts.
· Good understanding of key principles of international NGO’s including accountability, impartiality, neutrality, independence, cooperation, and intercultural understanding;
· An up-to date understanding of nutrition, risk reduction, emergency response, and sustainable development concepts;
· Knowledge in designing and implementing appropriate and effective holistic nutrition programs including ensuring that beneficiaries have access to health care, WASH, and FS programming;
· Nutrition training and field experience in Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition;
· Good knowledge of the SMART and Rapid Nutrition Assessment methodologies.
· Highly organized, detail oriented and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
· Excellent training, coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to multitask.
· Experience in communicating in different cultural work environments & ability to perform tasks in sensitivity to the local culture.
· Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office
· Energetic, independent and motivated to work in resource limited and harsh environment
· Not easily disheartened by frustration and delays
· Fluency in English (excellent written and spoken);
· Knowledge of Turkish, Arabic or Kurdish is a distinctive advantage;
