The position will be responsible for ensuring program quality by developing and providing standard resource materials to the health team and ensuring implementation through Health team. Deputy Medical Coordinator will work closely with the Medical Coordinator, Technical Advisors in the region and HQ and for developing technical resource documents.
Program Quality and Implementation
· Work with partners to deliver Primary and Secondary Health Care activities.
· Work with subsectors and program managers to assess infection control in Health Facilities, develop an integrated response between health and other departments to complement activities
· Identify and develop IEC material and treatment charts for various morbidities and clinical services and print to be distributed to the health facilities in line with provided guidelines
· Lead in developing and harmonizing standards in clinics in Turkey
· Identify new areas of expansion for IMC activities such as EPI and Nutrition, work with partners to develop staff capacity and identify needs for implementation
· Work with program staff for developing strategy and implementation EPI at IMC supported HFs
· Support Medical Coordinator and Health Technical Supervisors in program implementation
Program Monitoring and Supervision
· Develop and implement mechanisms for regular supervision of services in the supported HFs, sharing key finding, giving feedback to the managers and follow up on the action points
· Develop/review HF assessment checklist, rapid and indepth health assessment tools at the community and health facility level, train staff in their proper use and report writing
· Help health subsectors to document lessons learned and successful strategies being used in Turkey and cross border programming
· Lead health department in carrying out indepth health assessments
· Support Data Manager to analyze data to inform program of the current trends
· Carry out data validation exercise
Trainings and Capacity Building
· Work with Health Technical Supervisors to identify areas for training of the key national staff and arrange trainings/identify avenues for trainings such as online trainings etc
· Work with Health and sub sector technical managers to ensure effectiveness of the trainings carried out by health department in its subsectors and ensure evaluation of the quality of the trainings
· Ensure records for trainings conducted
Coordination and Representation
· Represent IMC in coordination meetings with other partners
· Represent IMC at meeting and forums in the absence of Medical Coordinator
Others
· Undertake and follow any other task assigned by the Medical Coordinator
· Adhere to IMC Code of Conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles
· Actively promotes PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
Qualification/Experience
Strong manager preferably with medical background or relevant field
Must have at least 3 years professional experience in implementing health related projects
Must have at least 3 years of experience working with INGOs in humanitarian or development contexts; previous emergency response, conflict/post-conflict experience preferred
Must be able to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators
Skills and knowledge in program sustainability and capacity building, and project monitoring and evaluation (both quantitative and qualitative methods)
Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic. Knowlegde of Turkish language is a bonus.
Must be skilled in Microsoft Office
Must be able to travel to field sites
