Job Purpose
Project manager will be responsible for ensuring project remains on scope, within budget, and time, managing the field staff and provide timely reporting and updates on the project.
Key Responsibilitie
Livestock Operations Management:
- Direct and coordinate livestock farm activities, such as breeding, maintenance, and shipment of livestock.
- Review production and storage records to determine productivity.
- Have good Knowledge of livestock illness or disease and advises designated personnel of action to be taken or secures veterinarian services.
- Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with sanitation standards and to determine maintenance and repair requirements.
- Prepare farm activity reports, such as livestock production, sales, and reports, required.
- Research technical literature for data on breeding, rearing, habits, diets, diseases, and treatment of various species of both birds and/or animals.
- Purchase supplies and equipment, such as eggs, feed, sanitation chemicals, incubators, and brooders.
- Arrange for sales of livestock.
- Prepare reports in accordance with financing partners’ requirements.
- Prepare proposals and technical specification for livestock proposals.
Team Management Skills:
- Provide duties and responsibilities for team members.
- Finalize work plan.
- Coordinate with local authorities on the implementation of projects and selection of beneficiaries.
- Oversee all the operations of the project.
- Provide periodic reports directly to their manager.
Note: the above mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.
Qualification (Education/Work Experience)
Essential:**
- University degree in animal production, veterinary or any related field to the work of the organization.
- Advanced of both English and Arabic.
- Solid experience in project/program management.
- Work experience in more than one location or area, particularly field positions is desirable.
- Extent and relevance of experience in providing livestock and pastoralism strategic policy and technical
- Extent of knowledge and experience in coordination with national and intergovernmental bodies; development partners; and non-governmental organizations.
- Extent of knowledge and experience in emergency humanitarian needs assessment and response in the region.
- Depth and knowledge in identifying and preparing regional program strategies on humanitarian and transition context at national, regional, and global level.
- Demonstrated experience in response management and surge support coordination
- Report writing skills.
Desirable:**
- Technical proficiency in livelihoods/economic development program design; implementation; and monitoring and evaluation especially in conflict-prone areas.
- At least 2 years of experience in animal production; health and pastoralism in the region particularly in coordination; technical assistance and programming.
