Job Purpose Summary:

Ensuring delivery of quality women engagement activities and case management services in field sites in Turkey and Syria, by directly supervising field teams in Turkey and Syria, while maintaining close cooperation with the program manager

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Adherence to Rules and Regulations:

• Full adherence to IMC’s Code of Conduct

• Full adherence to all laws and regulations set by the Republic of Turkey

• Dedication to international GBV guiding principles set by the Global Protection Cluster and the Interagency Standing Committee

• Dedication to all rights guaranteed under the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Team Management and Supervision:

• Directly supervising a team of 4 individuals, 2 in Turkey and 2 in Syria

• Supervising 1 Women Engagement Officer in Syria, 1 Case Worker in Syria, 1 Case Worker in Turkey, and 1 Site Supervisor in Turkey

• Supervising the GBV team in Syria via remote management

• Directly supervising the GBV team in Turkey by regular weekly visits to the field site

• Monitoring the field team to ensure timely implementation of activities

• Closely cooperating with the Child Protection Program to ensure collaborative action in the delivery of activities by both teams

Capacity Building:

• Capacity building staff by delivering GBV-related trainings in Arabic, including GBV Guiding Principles, Forced Marriage, and Facilitation Skills

• Capacity building staff in activity planning, reporting, and communications

Reporting:

• Coordinating with the Site Supervisors in Turkey and Syria to ensure timely and accurate collection of data

• Delivering bi-weekly quantitative reports about women engagement activities in Turkey and Syria;

• Assisting the GBV Case Worker in producing quantitative data

Logistics & HR:

• Coordinating and cooperating with the GBV Support Officer to ensure that all logistical needs of the activities and local partners are met in a timely manner – may include both preparation of procurement requests, and following up with the Procurement Department for timely delivery of materials and supplies

• Assisting the GBV Support Officer in HR matters related to her staff

Confidentiality:

• Storing strictly confidential data about GBV survivors

• Abiding by the principle of confidentiality in all matters related to staff management

Representation:

• Representing IMC in meetings with the local NGOs in Kilis, coordinating regular activities in local women’s centers and community centers in cooperation with the Site Supervisor

• Replacing the IMC GBV Program Manager in interagency meetings where needed

• Delivering presentations to 3rd parties on the activities of the GBV Program where needed

• Ensuring the portrayal of a positive, rights-based, and progressive identity of the GBV program before all partners and authorities

Travel:

• Weekly regular travel to the field sites in Kilis

• Attendance to meetings and workshops outside of Gaziantep or Kilis, if needed

Other:

• Any other responsibilities and tasks assigned by the supervisor or the senior management

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential Criteria:

• University degree in psychology, social services, gender studies, development studies, or any other relevant field

• At least 2 years’ experience in protection programs in emergencies

• At least 1 year experience in case management

• At least 1 year experience in team management

• Native speaker of Arabic, with working knowledge of English (B2 level)

• Possessing a valid passport, and permission to work locally in Turkey by having valid work permit and residency.

• The incumbent will have to be working with Syrian refugee women in women’s centers and women’s shelters. Due to matters of cultural sensitivity, only female candidates will be considered for the position.

Desirable Criteria:

• Prior experience in cross-border programs

• Prior experience in gender-based violence programs

• Prior experience in working with INGOs

• Prior experience in delivering trainings

• Prior experience in working in Southeast Turkey

Personality traits and skills:

• Energetic personality with ability to motivate a team

• Independent, initiative-taking worker with self-motivation

• Possession of excellent communication skills

• Time-management skills

• Ability to remain calm under moments of crises

• Multi-tasking skills, i.e. ability to conduct multiple tasks simultaneously without losing focus

Location of Service:

• The incumbent will based in Gaziantep. Travel to field sites will be provided by IMC. Nevertheless, candidates living outside of Gaziantep will not be provided with daily travel to the office. A limited monthly stipend will be provided for daily travel.
