INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS (IMC) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of a Psychosocial Worker (PSW) who will be supporting IMC's program with Syrian refugees. The role of a Psychosocial Worker is to provide ongoing case management support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of individual client needs. This position is ultimately accountable to IMC Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme Office and reports directly to the PSW Team Leader.

Essential Job duties/Scope of Work:

  • Offer individual and group based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support sessions
  • Conduct initial bio-psychosocial assessments with all clients
  • Develop care plans that are individualized and mutually developed with the client/survivor using a strengths based approach and/or caregivers where applicable;
  • Organize the development of safety care plans which focus on any immediate safety concerns;
  • Monitor ongoing care plan development with special attention to safety issues of clients and protection issues of survivors;
  • Support the client to identify short-term and long-term goals as part of a holistic package of MHPSS care; Ensuring that all care plan activities have, time lines, and referral to support services where necessary;
  • Participate in building strong referral pathways to local and international organisations to ensure quality MHPSS services.
  • Refer clients to Psychiatrists and GBV/Protection managers where necessary
  • Work under the direct supervision of the PSW Team Leader and National Psychiatrist
  • Be responsible for documenting all services offered to clients including case notes, assessment and referral forms, clinical audit sheets etc.
  • Serve as a client/survivor advocate;
  • Employ the principles of confidentiality for all clients including in all written documentation.
  • Attend trainings on case management, protection/GBV, and mental health;
  • Ensure that the rights of all individuals are respected and all clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management staff as required; contribute to donor reports and internal IMC reports as required.
  • Facilitate community based psychosocial activities and support groups for clients with more specific needs.
  • Facilitate trainings of Psychological First Aid, Psychological First Aid for Children and GBV Guiding Principles.
  • Travel to other sites to conduct outreach programs, home visits or supporting other PSW teams that need support

Personal/Professional Requirements:

  • Essential Fluency in written and spoken Arabic (English and Kurdish are asset)
  • English or Turkish language preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Experience working in social services, psychology and/or mental health
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience with children and ability to coordinate home visits.

Deliverables:

  • Developed individual care plans;
  • Case notes;
  • Regular data entry into client audit sheet
  • Weekly reports on the number of clients in case load; number of new clients, number of home visits, number of referrals
  • Monthly reports on all project indicators.
  • Holding Resident Permit In Turkey
