Key Responsibilities and Account-abilities:
· Attend initial and follow-up trainings on health and psychosocial topics. Actively participate in training and other MRFS events.
· Attend weekly meetings in order to report information, attend training, and receive instructions regarding activities in the local community.
· Coordinate with Regional HHP Officer and MRFS staff regarding HHP activities and responsibilities.
· Collect basic demographic data on the community, including trends related to health and social service needs.
· Disseminate health and psychosocial education to community members at the supported PHC clinics, by conducting home visits, giving group education events, and/or performing outreach in the community.
· Provide basic psychological support to vulnerable beneficiaries in the community.
· Act as the link between the MRFS’s multidisciplinary team and the affected population at community level by reporting community comments or complaints, and by spreading information and performing community mobilization.
· Gather data and report it on a weekly basis as well as during periodic surveys and help feed back findings to stakeholders and the community.
· Record data on routine activities and Health/Psychosocial conditions and forward it to the Field HHPs supervisor.
· Help identify key health/MH practices to be addressed and help to plan and carry out appropriate activities to promote safe practices, including:
- Communication activities such as community meetings, drama, information campaigns, use of educational materials etc.
· Ensure that these activities are conducted to a high standard and are in line with MRFS’s organisational ethos and code of conduct.
· Encourage the participation of community members throughout health promotion activities.
· Use resources effectively and with care.
· Establish community mapping, links with other services and referral mechanisms.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Some prior knowledge of health, teaching, or community development preferable.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community.
- Trust and wide acceptance by the community.
- Diplomacy, tact, and negotiating skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and record keeping skills.
- Knowledge of Turkish language preferable if operating in Turkey.
- Strong desire to assist in health and community outreach.
- Ability to spend 10 + hours per week in training and education as needed.
- Expect to stay in target community for foreseeable future.
