About Hand in Hand for Syria
Hand in Hand for Syria is a non-political, non-sectarian organization founded in May 2011 to provide humanitarian relief to people inside Syria. Hand in Hand is registered in the UK with a head office in London and two offices in Turkey. With six international partners, projects cover the health, WASH, shelter, food security, NFI and education sectors and directly employ over 350 field staff inside Syria.
Purpose of the position
The Country Director will be responsible for the strategic planning, human resources, program support of operations, finance, monitoring and evaluation, external relations and partnerships, and required reporting for the country office.
Primary Responsibilities of this position:
· Develop country specific strategic plan and proposals that will contribute to the organization’s objectives and support the continuation of its programs,
· Work closely with governments, donors and UN agencies to identify a strategy for strengthening the health care system in the areas of operation,
· Represent the organization and liaise with local and national authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and donor agencies to promote the organization’s cause and facilitate successful coordination of activities and ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders,
· Provide technical inputs and assistance to programs with particular reference to financial management and reporting systems,
· Oversee program operations and reporting, ensuring compliance with organization’s policies and procedures, donor regulations and local laws.
· Monitor, evaluate and report on all program activities and progress to the CEO and Board of Trustees, providing timely updates of all situational and project developments,
· Oversee the preparation of country specific annual work plans and budgets.
Qualifications & Skills:
· University degree in a relevant field. Bachelor with relevant work experience shall be considered.
· 10+ years of experience in a similar role at a senior management level.
· Demonstrated experience in program design including experience with proposal development with range of international donors.
· Strong writing, presentation and program development skills.
