Overview:

SRD is a registed organization in USA, we are working in north and south of Syria, our scope is the emergency response, health, Protection, Shelter & NFI, development projects.
SRD Turkey Office is seeking to recruit Protection Officer to support this humanitarian programming.

Essential Job Functions:

Planning and Strategy:

· Initiate and promote realistic protection initiatives/solutions in favor of the affected community in the North Of Syria.

· Help identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in SRD’s response and contribute to the development of program strategy.

· Contribute towards the implementation of the plan of action for the program according to the guidelines and schedules set by the Protection Manager.

· Support Community Support Workers to assess needs, disseminate information, identify vulnerable people, conduct registration and distributions, and provide support to access services.

· Ensure that the collection, monitoring and reporting of information primary at the community level are done by properly by Community Support Workers.

Program Implementation:

· Oversee and undertake general protection needs of the communities in compliance with SRD Principles and the International principles and standards.

· Assist the planning and organize general needs, local organization and technical assessments.

· Support the planning and communication of weekly work plans.

· Prepare movement plans from field team recording where assessments & monitoring are being conducted.

· Ensure that adequately completed assessment documentation is received from the field teams before activities are implemented.

· Ensure that all documentation is filed according to SRD program management standards.

· Help to ensure that all required program planning documentation is completed in a timely fashion to ensure the smooth implementation of activities (e.g. referral forms).

· Support the tracking of protection cases and do the follow-up.

· Flag any security concerns, discrepancies/losses immediately to the SPO.

Reporting:

· Ensure that required reports are completed and submitted by Community Support Worker team.

· Help review reports to ensure they capture required details.

· Support the reconciliation of reported activities against those planned.

· Support the completion of internal and external reports.

Admin and HR:

· Ensure all electronic and hardcopy documentation is filed correctly as per SRD’s Program Management minimum standards checklist.

· Support the planning and organization of staff trainings.

· Support with budget management and cash flow projections as required.

Coordination and representation:

· When requested by the PM, represent SRD to colleague agencies, local organizations and authorities, and participate in sector coordination meetings.

· Regularly coordinate with other programs, administrative and financial staff, in relation to the program activities.

Safety and Access:

· Support the team to ensure a safe working environment for all people involved in project implementation and maintain the highest standards of behavior when working with children and families.

· Keep the Field Officer and Manager updated with regard to the security situation in the project implementation area and provide advice as to how to manage SRD presence in Syria context.

· Support and adhere to policies and procedures that maintain the safety and security of the team.

· Work closely with Safety and Access team to ensure field teams adhere to safety policies. In particular:

  1. Timely reporting of risks, issues and incidents

  2. Checking in on time

· Ensure preliminary incident reports are filed with safety and access team for follow up.

Other:

· Adherence to all SRD policies and procedures as outlined in SRD policies and procedure manuals;

· Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit .

· Cover for the supervisor where required.

Qualifications:

· BA/BSC in a relevant field. At least 1 years’ work experience in an administrative role or similar: Experience of project management or international development/humanitarian sector work would be an advantage.

· Experience or strong knowledge of protection programming and/or social work.

· Experience maintaining good relation with colleagues, partners, local communities and project beneficiaries and involving them in the project implementation.

· Experience of donor reporting.

· Minimum 2-year professional working experience.in the areas of community services, social work (e.g., gender, SGBV programs, women’s empowerment and protection, work with refugees) or/and human rights or related tasks in government, NGO or international organization.

· Excellent knowledge of English and working knowledge of another UN language

Skills:

· High level of proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English, Turkish is preferable.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills.

· Willingness to travel across Turkey (especially the Aegean region) and spend short periods of time in the field to train and engage with field teams, understand needs and challenges and monitor activities.

· Strong computer skills; particularly in the use of MS WORD, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as a part of the team.

· Ability to multi-task.

· hardworking and committed to community work.

· Willingness and ability to work with groups of various cultural, social, religious and ethnic background.

· Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.

· Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with project personnel.

· Diverse field operational experience.

· Good IT skills including database management skills.

· Proven communication skills, both oral and written.

· Demonstrated knowledge of community communication and engagement approaches.

· Understanding of and demonstrated competencies in forced displacement and protection, particularly SGBV prevention and response, child protection, education, gender equality, and the application of the Age, Gender and Diversity Policy.
