What PAH is about:
Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization consisting of people who want to make the world a better place. For over 20 years, we have been providing relief in big and small emergencies worldwide alongside with running long-term missions in several countries in crisis. Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character – have been carried out in 44 countries so far. We concentrate on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), as well as Nutrition and Education. PAH in Syria:
For over two years Polish Humanitarian Action has been involved in projects addressed to people from Idlib and Hama regions, reaching with help to over 640 thousand people. PAH first humanitarian intervention in that area of Syria was in March 2013. Since October 2013 we have established permanent field mission in Turkey with fully operational office in Syria. Currently we undertake the following projects: water and sanitation (we supply water, we rebuild pumping stations), food (we supply food and cooperate with local bakeries), emergency sets (blankets, bowls, clothing) and distribution of medicines. In 2013 PAH started random FSL interventions in Idlib governorate, since January 2014 we conduct constant FSL activities in Idlib governorate. They are food distribution to selected, most vulnerable beneficiaries. Their number varies from 5000 to 7000 households. In addition to that we provide supplementary flour and yeast to bakeries. This allows bakeries to produce bread and sell it on fixed, low price, affordable for people living in this area. We have also run a small health program aimed distribution of medicines to two medical points in Syria.
Who PAH is looking for:
PAH in Syria is looking for FSL Programme Coordinator. The person will hold the following responsibilities:
- Identifying, analysing and reporting the humanitarian needs and providing clear and detailed recommendations for interventions
- Developing strategic and operational FSL programme plans in cooperation with Head of Mission
- Managing the FSL Programme, i.e.: 1) ensuring an effective and timely implementation of FSL projects; 2) supervising the effective management of FSL supplies and equipment; 3) managing FSL project coordinators and ensures their knowledge and experience exchange; assists with recruitment and performance management; 4) training and taking care of the substantive development of the FSL project employees
- Ensuring the preparation and writing of food security and livelihood proposals and donor reports (log frame, budget) together with the FSL team
- Supporting the promotion of FSL programme in the region
- Liaising with stakeholders such as donors, institutions, authorities, international and national non-governmental organizations, international organizations (IOs), clusters representing PAH
What PAH requires:
- Experience in coordinating FSL-related projects within difficult operating environments (minimum 3 years); familiarity with EP&R will be an asset
- Experience in team management (at least 1 year)
- Documented successes in applying for institutional and private funds
- Experience in project management (knowledge of donors policies and guidelines)
- Strong communication skills in culturally diverse environment
- Resourcefulness, initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1/C2), Knowledge of spoken Arabic or Turkish is a strong advantage
- Good knowledge of MS Office package
- Driving license
