Background:

The project’s aim is to enable people in opposition-controlled Syria to experience increasingly effective accountable and transparent services, which are delivered on a progressively formalized basis by civilian-led institutions; in increasingly resilient partnership with communities. In order to do this, the program will work with both communities and formal/informal service providers to develop their capacity to design and deliver services which respond to the needs of the population. The program seeks to promote local ownership and leadership of the decision-making processes which guide the delivery of resources.

Role Description:

The Research Field Team Coordinator will be responsible for managing and building the capacity of the Research Team based in Syria, ensuring the quality and timely collection of research data, analyzing and providing recommendations based on atmospherics data, and supporting project reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Management Responsibilities

· Supervising and managing in-country researchers within each allotted geographical areas of responsibility through skype and other means on a weekly basis. Manage and coordinate interactions between the in-country researchers and research officers.

· Providing mentoring and on-going capacity building to Researchers.

· Ensuring that in-country researchers have the Knowledge, Understanding and Skills required of the programme to engage effectively with communities.

· Support the implementation of work plans, deliverables for each Researcher in area of responsibility.

· Train Researchers (other field staff) as a native Arabic speaker and prepare courses of needed trainings

· Support the facilitation of training workshops for those that take place inside and outside Syria.

· Manage all administrative tasks related to the in-country researchers, including ensuring that their time sheets are filled out properly and that they are paid in a timely manner.

Oversee and coordinator the collection of atmospherics data from in-country researchers, Field Officers and Liaison Officers

· Oversee and assure the quality of data collected through the in-country researchers, Field Officers and Liaison Officers by triangulating information to verify validity of reports.

· Support efforts to gather community atmospherics through technical assistance (as necessary) to in-country researchers, Field Officers and Liaison Officers.

· Ensure the timely translation and collation of all atmospherics findings.

Analysis and Reporting

· Provide feedback to the in-country researchers on the atmospherics data collected.

· Provide recommendations to the Research Officer (Atmospherics) and Research Coordinator on whether the atmospherics data meets community engagement criteria.

· Analyse and develop findings on community atmospherics data collected by our in-country researchers, Field Officers, and Liaison Officers.

Provide support for Critical Impact Reports, Requests for Information, and thematic research.

· Develop workplans with the Research Analysts and Manager that detail activities, timelines and deliverables in the creation and implementation of this research.

· Coordinate with the Research Analysts in the development of the tools for alignment and quality assurance purposes.

· Ensure the deliverables are quality assured before they are submitted to the Research Manager.

· Assure timely submission of all deliverables.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Native speaker level Arabic with a good working knowledge of English

· At least four years’ experience in Research and M&E

· Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data

· Experience of remotely managing field teams

· Training and capacity building experience

· Track record of delivering high quality work to tight deadlines

· Excellent attention to detail

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
