It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 44 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction associated with drug use, emergencies and crisis.
MdM’s strategy is focused on improving access to health services for vulnerable populations, and strengthening capacities of local health partners.
The goal of MdM is to offer medical care services to the Syrian civilian populations, working in close collaboration with MdM-Turkey (Dünya Doktorları Derneği), the Turkish branch of MdM and part of MdM international network.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Based in Antakya, you report to the general coordinator for the Syria mission and have functional links with the DDD's field coordinator for South Turkey for all aspects related to security, representation and legal concerns in Turkey.
You manage the program team composed by 5 persons directly and 85 persons indirectly. You are responsible for the implementation fo MdM North Syria program and ensure the overall functionning of the field base.
Your main responsibilities are:
-Implement the MdM North Syria program directly and through partners;
-Supervise the overall North Syria project team and ensure close collaboration between the logistics, medical and administrative departments;
-Develop and maintain an effective relation with the partners working inside Syria;
-Ensure team security and safety in Syria and compliance with security regulations;
-Assess continuously the humanitarian and security situation in the field and timely inform the general coordinator;
-Liaise with camp managers and community leaders inside Syria;
-Actively coordinate with the other (I)NGOs, UN, and other relevant stakeholders;
-Produce monthly reports on project achievements and donor reports as requested;
-In collaboration with the medical coordinator or deputy medical coordinator, assess the medical needs and implement procedures and protocols in line with the MOU’s signed with the partners;
-Provide technical assistance and train the partners to build up their capacities;
-Follow-up the medical supplies deliveries and cross border activities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Master degree in Humanitarian/Evaluation studies
At least 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years in emergency contexts, managing programmes, preferably within the health sector
Specially comfortable with MS Pack Office and IT in genera
Previous experience of project planning and budget holding; proposal and report writing
Strong command of project management tools (Logical Framework analysis, project cycle management, objectives and indicators etc.)
Experience in partnership development and management
Experience in coaching, guiding and leading a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team under difficult circumstances
Experience of security management at the field site level
Experience in remote-control and remote-management programmes is a must
Previous experience in Arab countries and specifically in Turkey/Syria is an asset
Languages:
Excellent command of English (oral and written) is mandatory
French and Arabic is an asset
