Turkey: National Junior Project Officer

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), an international organisation with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is looking for qualified candidates to fill the above-mentioned position.

The “Strengthening the Operational and Strategic Capacity of Directorate General for Migration Management of Turkey (DGMM III)” project’s aim is designed to strengthen the operational and strategic capacity of the Directorate General for Migration Management of Turkey and to providing further support to the DGMM in enhancing capacities for developing strategies and operational procedures in selected migration matters.

Under the supervision of the National Project Manager, the National Junior Project Officer will be responsible for the daily implementation of project activities of the DGMM III project.

Specifically, the National Junior Project Officer performs the following tasks:

  • Plans, initiates and coordinates the production of project outputs (collects inputs for project publications/policy papers/thematic reports, edits/proofreads and organizes translations),
  • Reviews project results and identifies best practices,
  • Develops, collects, compiles and organizes background documents and other materials for project activities,
  • Reports on projects activities and produces PR materials such as newsletters,
  • Provides inputs to project resource planning,
  • Communicates with stakeholders (participants, partners, experts, suppliers and project staff) on routine matters related to project activities,
  • Drafts routine correspondence, Notes Verbales, communicates with service providers, interpreters, experts and other relevant counterparts,
  • Organises regular project meetings (being responsible for meeting room, audio-visual equipment, name tags, logistics for arrivals and departures, catering, participant lists, DSA calculations, etc...), prepares agenda minutes and summaries of actions to be taken,
  • Supports the recruitment of national/international experts and the procurement for conferences and seminars as well as for other procurements foreseen in the project,
  • Follows up with financial procedures in cooperation with ICMPD HQ,
  • Works with the SAP software system (initial training will be provided by ICMPD), and
  • liaises with Corporate Resources Management and Finance and Controlling departments,
  • Keeps project’s archive and regularly updates ICMPD internal e-archive system, Provides other necessary administrative and logistical assistance to the project team.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

  • University degree in social, political, administrative sciences, law and/or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field,
  • A master’s degree will be considered an asset.

Experiece:

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in project administration and project cycle management, organisation management support and executive assistance,
  • Previous work experience in an international organisation and/or national public administration will be considered an asset.

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Substantial knowledge of issues related to migration management in Turkey,
  • Excellent oral and written command of Turkish and English, knowledge of any additional languages is considered an asset,
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team,
  • Very good organisational skills including managing conflicting priorities,
  • Very good time management skills and ability to work under time pressure,
  • Good command of standard MS-office software (MS-Word, MS Excel, Outlook etc.),
  • Willingness to travel, in and outside of Turkey, when required.
