IBTCI has served governments, private sector companies and several donor agencies in the practice area of monitoring & verifications (M&V) across many sectors including humanitarian assistance, WASH, food security, shelter, education, health, economic growth and democracy & governance.

POSITION SUMMARY

IBTCI is currently seeking an Istanbul-based Field Monitoring Coordinator for a Syria program. This is a full-time position based in Istanbul, Turkey, with possible travel to Jordan. The project will establish and undertake independent monitoring of programs inside Syria, and aims to increase understanding of the outputs, progresses, challenges, successes, and lessons learned of the projects. Support the COP and DCOP in managing the third-party monitoring organizations in Syria:

DUTIES

· Participate in the preparation of monitoring & verification and site visit reporting on FFP distribution various modalities used in Syria, including food security –food transfers; food security – cash and voucher transfers; and food security – livelihoods. or any other modality used by OFDA/USAID partners;

· Support the Development of Syria Humanitarian Monitoring Project (SHMP/Food for Peace FFP site visit forms, qualitative interview question (open ended and closed ended questions), key focus stakeholder group questions and check lists and other monitoring verification tools as needed;

· Ensure, an alignment to the extent possible that the proposed Monitoring and Verification tools capture and reflect the best practices and standards widely accepted for food aid and food assistance (e.g. WFP, Sphere, UNICEF and Minimum Standards in Food Security and Nutrition).

· Assist in translation from Arabic into English of M&V data, including Focus Group Interview Audio Recordings;

· Assist in report writing and analysis of Third Party Monitoring Reporting;

· Assist DCOP, in initial review of M&V data and quality assurance, and support draft of progress reporting;

· Assist DCOP in Istanbul with project operational management support tasks enhancing the timely implementation of IBTCI Field Monitors’ activity deliverables;

· Assist DCOP in keeping track of monitoring of activities and verification of output deadlines of monthly awards, through maintaining and updating a database/activity scheduling tool (Gannt chart, Microsoft Projects tool, etc);

· On the administrative side, help to ensure that all administrative tasks are completed, as requested by Chief of Party (COP) and DCOP;

· Backstop Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) in liaising with IBTCI Field Monitors in Istanbul;

REQUIREMENTS

· Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.;

· Experience: At least three years of postgraduate professional experience in commerce, business administration, development, Food Aid Logistics, Livelihoods, Food Aid Support/ food security and livelihoods monitoring and evaluations;

· Preferably: Familiarity with Food Aid and Food Assistance, and Minimum standards in food security and nutrition

· Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.

· Computer literate with significant experience in Excel and Word.

· Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic.

· Ability to work in Istanbul, Turkey.
