Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) is an international humanitarian organization that helps people in need in over 15 countries. We started to work in Turkey in response to Van Earthquake 2011, and was one of the first international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) on the ground responding to the Syrian Crisis. Since 2012, AAR Japan has implemented cross-sectoral projects on basic needs, education, food security, protection and health targeting refugees in Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Mardin and Istanbul.
AAR Japan is looking for a Project Manager for Food/NFI/Livelihood Project
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Project implementation
Be responsible for overall implementation of Food/NFI project, including;
-Achieving expected outcomes set out for the project
-Completing the project within the set time-frame
-Food/NFI project is implemented in line with the set guidelines/SOPs
2. Project Proposals and Reports Be responsible for the Food/NFI part of project proposals/project reports
3. Budget Preparation and Management Be responsible for preparation and management of project budget
4. Supervision and guidance
Be responsible for supervision/guidance/training of Food/NFI team members/implementation partner(s)
5. Coordination-Building productive/conducive relations with stakeholders of Food/NFI project
Liaise well with stakeholders including implementation partner(s), other NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
With the help of Food/NFI project officer(s),
- Monitor/follow-up/intervene/guide Food/NFI distribution activities as necessary, making sure that the project achieves expected outcomes within the set timeframe.
- Overall management of PDM, including questionnaires, calculate/select PDM samples, analyse PDM results and preparing narrative report on PDM findings
- Prepare, review and finalise reports, including monthly report, 4W for FSL cluster, weekly meeting minutes, beneficially identification/PDM databases, assessment reports, distribution reports and other Food/NFI project related reports/databases
- Be focal point for Food/NFI related external meetings, including FSL cluster meeting
- Prepare Food/NFI part of project proposals
- Prepare and manage budget for Food/NFI distribution activities
- Supervise, guide and train Food/NFI project officer(s)
- Any other tasks to fulfil responsibilities as specified above
- Support Head of Office as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
- Minimum 4 years professional experience in the humanitarian sector, especially Food/NFI and/or Livelihood
- Minimum 2 years in management positions in the humanitarian sector
- Demonstrated experience and skills in monitoring and evaluation including questionnaire designing, post-distribution-monitoring, preparing assessments
- Demonstrated experience and skills in capacity-building and trainings on Project Management
- Significant experience on analysing data and data clearing
- Proven experience in proposal writing, reporting, and preparing minutes
- Experience in budget management and preparation
- Minimum Bachelor Degree
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Fluent in Turkish in speaking, reading and writing
- Fluent English in speaking, reading and writing
- Flexibility to work in fast-paced and multi-cultural work environment sometimes under extreme pressure
- Strong coordination/negotiation skills
Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience and skills in project proposal writing for international donors, esp. UN agencies
- Demonstrated experience and skills in developing and implementing food/NFI distribution, and/or Livelihood projects
- Experience in managing Food/NFI distribution and/or livelihood projects in the field
- Speaking and writing in Arabic
OTHER CONDITIONS:
- Start day: As soon as possible
- Work location: Gaziantep with occasional business trips inside Turkey
- Condition: Salary and other conditions will be in accordance with AAR Japan’s Terms of Employment.
