We are looking for a Media and Communications coordinator to support UK and global offices to communicate, promote and disseminate information relating to WATAN’s humanitarian response in order to raise the profile of and support for WATAN’s advocacy, awareness raising, learning and fundraising efforts. The MCC will support WATAN’s UK team to engage with new audiences and donors, to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and networks users. You will lead our marketing efforts using new media and digital tools.

If you know how to creatively handle various online marketing tools, like social media platforms, websites and blogs, and have experience e-zines, editing and communication literature, this position is for you. You will work with different teams to coordinate our marketing, advertising and promotional activities.

Ultimately, you should be able to promote our Organization and increase Followers, Partners and Donors engagement.

Responsibilities:

Communication and Media

· Build and execute a communication and social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification

· Support the implementation of communication strategy/guidelines for the WATAN humanitarian response, and propose changes in response to changing circumstances on the ground.

· Lead in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating communication/media plans, including identification of best communication channels to use for specific audiences, as well as coordinate implementation for donor specific visibility requirements, as per donor visibility standards.

· Contribute in the development of local engagement strategies to promote positive stories of WATAN’s response.

· Develop content, both written and audio-visual (in coordination with regional offices) that is of high-quality, relevant and interesting to a variety of external and internal audiences, online and offline.

· Generate, edit, and publish regular magazine and newsletter in English (original text, images, video or HTML), coming up with innovative content in coordination with regional offices which targets UK audience, generating an interest in and following for WATAN.

· Develop appropriate process, systems, storage and archiving for in-country communications materials whether written or visual.

· Ensure all documentation and communications are in line with the Dochas Code of Conduct on Images and Messages.

· Liaise with business development department to ensure brand consistency

Digital/Social Media

· Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action

· Setting up and optimizing the organization pages within each social media platform to increase the visibility of organization’s social content

· Establishing an online fundraising mechanism and strategy, streamlined with the social media strategy in order to encourage online giving

· Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules

· Researching audience preferences and discover current trends

· Creating engaging text, image and video content

· Design digital media campaigns aligned with WATAN strategy

· Designing posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and creating buzz around new campaigns

· Measure web traffic and monitor INGO activities and the humanitarian events and conferences

· Report on online reviews and feedback from followers and fans

· Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and the followers engagement metrics

· Planning and implement online advocacy campaigns strategies through social media accounts.

· Coordinate the creation of digital content (e.g. website, blogs and press releases)

· Establish our web presence to boost brand awareness

· Maintain a strong online image for the organization through social media

· Suggest and implement direct marketing methods to increase the attention of the target audience

· Suggest new ways to attract prospective followers

· Train co-workers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way

· Stay up-to-date with changes in digital media developments and all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Essential

· Proven working experience in social media marketing and digital media (minimum 2 years) preferably with international organisations.

· Expertise in multiple social media platforms

· Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels

· In-depth knowledge of search engine optimization, keyword research and Google Analytics

· Knowledge of Photoshop

· Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills

· Experience with visual communication principles

· Familiarity with web design and content management systems

· Experience in creating graphics and infographics

· Ability to provide design support and layouts for publications. Create design templates for publications, documents and presentations.

· Excellent analytical skills

· Positive attitude with strong verbal and written communication skills, with good multitasking and organizational ability and perform under tight deadlines

· Ability to gasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively

· Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels

· Fluency in English

· Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge

· Commitment to WATAN’s ethos and values

Desired:

· Additional qualification in web design or animation, and/or ,knowledge of illustrator, Premiere Pro, or other media editing software

· Ability to work under pressure

· Strong commitment to humanitarian principles

· Flexible, adaptable and patient

· Open to travel
