About Point
POINT was established by a group of Syrians and is located in Gaziantep, Turkey. As an organic NGO the co-founders of PONT realized the crucial capacity gaps and needs for the Syrian civil society to play a greater role in improving the response to the Syrian crisis and better contribute to the stabilization of their conflict-affected country. POINT provides capacity development to the Syrian local civil society actors as well as local staff in INGOs. This is in order to strengthen their voice, increase their impact and bring about the development of a diverse, inclusive and independent civil society.
POINT Vision
To build and develop the capacity of individuals and groups in local communities, and enhance peace-building activities for better disaster response and risk reduction.
Main Requirements:
· Review and develop the organization financial policy and its relation with other departments and grant management
· Internal audit of the financial department and grants
· Review and approve monthly financial reports before sending to executive management
· Approve financial reports and supporting documents before sharing with donors;
· Address donors’ comments on reports
· Lead the financial team in headquarter and branches, monitor and evaluate the team performance quarterly
· Check and approve cash and bank reconciliations weekly and monthly
· Develop the Organization master budget and review it in a quarterly
· Contribute to the development of the organizational strategies
· Work on developing the department through periodic meetings with other departments and programs.
· Prepare the annual plan of the department.
· Provide inputs for the Organization annual report.
· Develop the capabilities of team through training and coaching.
· Integrate and use IT accounting solutions
· Work with the external auditor to conduct the annual financial audit.
· Work with Turkish charter accountant to finalize Turkish financial reports.
· Develop proposal budgets and control expenses based on each project budget
· Support POINT in increasing grants and fund.
· Continuous communication with partners through periodic meetings to develop the work.
· Coordinate work between the financial Department and programs.
· Communicate with the Organizations offices to cover their financial and financial projetcts needs
· Coordinate money transfer to POINT offices within the expenditure plan
· Attend monthly meetings with senior management of the organization.
· Review and verify the accuracy of financial statements and records in financial books and accounting records, arrange & classify data.
· Review income statements, verify, validate and archive data and supporting documents.
· Follow-up financial and accounting procedures of implementation of budget activities to comply with the regulations and decisions of the Chief Executive Officer.
· Review payroll, wages and dues paid and ensure their conformity with the appropriations and the approved budget.
· Review, verify statements, tables, monthly & current expenses, accounts according to balances approved by the budget.
· Supervise preparation of final reports, provide detailed reports on them, and address financial auditor comments
· Supervise procurement and purchase contracts in coordination with Procurement Committee and the Logistics Department.
· Coordination with banks and follow-up of the Organization accounts.
· Submit requests for expenditures and checks to the CEO.
· Validate, verify periodic and annual inventory statements with respect to assets and custody with their balances and their bookkeeping statements and expressing opinions and observations
· Documentation of fixed assets with their physical values and follow-up periodically with the support services department.
skills and experiences:
• Good knowledge of the principles of accountability and humanitarian accountability.
• High skills in team management and team development.
• Skills in training individuals.
• Full understanding of the requirements of the Turkish government for the finances of the organizations working for Turkey and the Syrian context inside Syria.
• Strategic planning and annual financial planning skills
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial management of organizations.
• At least two years’ experience in dealing with support programs Departments
• Academic degree in Financial Management and Accounting.
• Knowledge of the global financial systems adopted by donors like EU, USA, DIFD, UN...
• At least 3 years’ experience in financial risk management.
• at least two years’ experience in developing the financial policies of the non-profit organization.
