Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organisation that provides humanitarian aids to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to response for the needs and basic requirement of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic life standards to the affected population by delivering the humanitarian aid based on the needs.

Overview of Position:

Finance Officer takes charge of the Organisation’s financial health by administering accounting operations to meet legal requirements and should be familiar with audits, invoices and budget preparations and interested in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable. He/she should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks. Ultimately, he/she will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Bihar’s financial transactions and procedures.

Reports to:Finance Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring daily entries, bookkeeping, filling vouchers, monthly journals and updated the financial system on daily basis.

  • Developing and maintaining robust program financial management systems to ensure the proper management of alert financial resources in regards to Syria operations

  • Updating internal systems with financial data.

  • Maintaining contact with the banks and reconcile bank statements.

  • Syria office Financial support.

  • Performing daily routine accounting tasks. Any other functions as designated by the Finance Manager.

Skills and Abilities:

  • University or Institute Degree in Economic – Accountancy or relevant education.
  • Training courses in Budgeting, Financial Risk Resolution and External and Internal Audit. At least 2 years of relevant experience (preferably in Humanitarian aid projects and complicated contexts)
  • English language proficiency: Good (speaking, writing and reading).
  • MS-Office proficiency: Advanced (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and social skills.
  • Accurate, structured, flexible and responsible.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and improve capacity building of project field and HQ assistants and volunteers.
  • Ability to transfer gained skills to other staff.
  • Empathy with organizational vision, mission, goals and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions. Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
