Background IM Swedish Development Partner:
IM Swedish Development Partner (IM) is a Swedish development organization fighting poverty and exclusion operating in five regions worldwide. The organization was founded in 1938 to defend human dignity, as a reaction to the fascist ideologies, hatred and violence that spread in Europe at the time. IM promotes the development of a strong and democratic civil society by collaborating with partner organizations*.* IM has been working in the Middle East since the late 1960s in the area of intellectual disability. At present IM Middle East (IM ME) works with partners in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon in the areas of disability and women’s rights in the thematic areas of economic empowerment, health – SRHR, education and strengthening civil society.
Rationale and purpose:
IM Swedish Development Partner (IM) is currently going through a strategic process and has therefore started to think more critically about how to measure and monitor results and progresses, through strengthening the capacities of its staff and partners in order to be more effective and efficient. The five day MEAL workshop will equip participants with skills and knowledge to develop the main components of Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
During the upcoming years IM with partners will be working to build an effective MEAL system which provides timely and reliable information for learning how to support the implementation of the programme activities in an accurate manner through evidence based reporting.
Objectives:
The MEAL workshop aims at enabling IM partners and staff to develop an understanding of the below:
Participants are familiarized with the MEAL concepts;
Identify the roles and responsibilities for monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning;
Design a framework for a MEAL system;
Identify appropriate MEAL techniques and tools;
Develop a strategic plan for implementing the MEAL system;
Development of MEAL work components such as programme baselines, mid-term reviews and end lines;
Utilize effective feedback mechanisms to ensure accountability to IM programmes;
Data collection tools, data quality management and data analyses;
Explanation on how feedback and complaints lead to information based management;
Focus on learning and involvement of stakeholders in data collection and feedback;
Improving programme quality (implementation of activities) through stakeholder’s feedback and their engagement in the project at different levels.
Deliverables:
A comprehensive training module based on the needs/gaps
A training report with key and actionable recommendations

The MEAL workshop will take place in Palestine 5-9 August 2018.
Participants:
Participants will be (20-25) from IM staff and partners in Palestine.
Trainer Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of MEAL.
- Proven experience in Theory of Change, Outcome Mapping, Logical Framework, Results Based Management, Accountability and data management.
- Experience in participatory training and learning techniques.
- Experience in programme and project development.
- Proven ability of planning and managing training programmes in related issues and skills in MEAL.
