Background

BAHAR Organization (BO) is an independent humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organisation providing health care, relief and development programs. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, 2012, BRO is dedicated to address the needs of the affected communities with the available resources and tools to maintain a sustainable and well-established humanitarian channel to reach the vulnerable communities and displaced individual in attempt to provide the basic needs and life-saving assistance.

Overview of Position

Support the financial, reputational, and strategic relevance and sustainability of Bahar Organization in order to ensure continuation of humanitarian assistance programming by building and sustaining mutually beneficial and synergistic relationships with partners.

Key Responsibilities:

· Study Bahar’s current advocacy systems and partnership networks, and develop recommendations for Bahar Senior Management on ways to improve and strengthen. Should consider and address strategic advocacy approaches; human, financial, and material resources; visual footprint; communication methods (social media, print, website, etc.), and related elements.

· In coordination with Senior Management, staff, and all teams, develop a written advocacy strategy and related supporting guidelines for Bahar Organization. Should consider and address strategic advocacy objectives and goals; human, financial, and material resources; Bahar’s visual footprint; communication methods (social media, print, website, etc.), monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of advocacy, and related elements as needed.

· Coordinate with Bahar MEAL and Program Teams, Senior Management, Finance, and others to write and disseminate Bahar’s Annual narrative report.

· Coordinate with Bahar MEAL and Program Teams and Senior Management to develop informational materials on Bahar Organization, impact and/or success stories from past projects, sector and program experience materials, and related.

· Coordinate publication and dissemination of advocacy materials to partners with Senior Management, Program and MEAL teams, and Proposal Writing Manager as appropriate, and to websites or social media as needed with Communications.

· Identify, develop, and maintain a network of contacts and partners among donors, governments, intergovernmental organizations, international NGOs, and other strategic partners.

· Develop and maintain an information management system for tracking partner networks and contacts, funding opportunities, and prioritization (based on Bahar strategy). Should cross-reference status of past and current Bahar projects with related partners (i.e. donor mapping). Coordinated with Program Teams and Proposal Writing Manager.

· Lead internal Bahar coordination and liaising with partners to secure funding opportunity agreements until proposal drafting stages begin (at this point, Proposal Writing Manager leads coordination).

· Represent Bahar in strategic meetings with partners as appropriate (e.g. the United Nations NGO Forum meetings, cluster meetings as necessary, workshops and events, and the like).

· Travel, as requested by Senior Management, to liaise with Bahar partners.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • University degree holder.

  • Training courses such as Proposal Writing, Project Cycle Management.

  • Two years’ experience minimum with INGOs.

  • English language proficiency: Advanced (writing, reading and speaking).

  • MS Office suit proficiency: Very good.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.

  • Ability to conduct literature searches.

  • Knowledge of funding sources and mechanisms.

  • Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures.

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Database management skills.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.

  • Demonstrated ability to train and improve capacity building of other staff.

  • Empathy with organizational vision, mission, goals and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Strong attention to details and high level of organization.

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.

  • Effective planning and excellent problem solving skills.

  • Presentable and initiative

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
