Background on Roia
Roia is an independent non-profit organisation harnessing the power of information and communications technology (ICT) to do good and improve lives in the most difficult circumstances. Position profile
Roia is looking to expand its programming and presence for those in-need inside Turkey, specifically host-refugee communities. Accordingly, Roia is looking for a young, talented and hardworking individual with experience in communications to help us build relevant partnerships with the Turkish government, development agencies and INGOs.
The position is unpaid but includes a stipend to cover travel and accommodation costs. Dependent on the status of Roia’s project pipeline, the intern will be highly considered for a full-time, salaried role upon completion of the internship.
Responsibilities
- Liaising with relevant Turkish authorities and pursuing grants opportunities inside Turkey
- Mapping donors and potential partners — both third-sector and private — for projects based inside Turkey
- Assisting with the creation of Turkish oriented fundraising campaigns
- Aiding the development and implementation of a Turkish NGO partnership strategy as aligned with and contributing to the overall Institute strategic objectives.
- Assisting in the creation and distribution of a Turkish communications materials
Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Turkish fluency
- English working proficiency
- University degree related to either: 1) communications, journalism or marketing; or 2) international relations, development, humanitarian action.
- Demonstrable experience in communications
- Ability to understand and account for intended audience and purpose of content
- Good grasp of social media platforms and social media strategy
- Clear communicator with ability to engage others
- Motivated to learn, adapt and develop skills and best practice
Desired
- Previous experience in communications or
- Arabic language ability
- Knowledge of Syrian content and surrounding region
