Job Purpose
To produce a range of information products, including need assessments, situation, flash reports, etc. for IMU after receiving pre-processed information from the data analysis and network coordinating officers.
Key Responsibilities
- § Establishing standard templates for all IMU information products
- § Drafting reports in Arabic and/or English in scientific, professional and clear language
- § Reviewing/Editing the drafted reports and ensure the consistency and accuracy of the presented data in the form of narrative, figures and maps
- § Preparing methodologies for IMU products
- § Preparing secondary data for each report
- § Drafting/reviewing/editing other substantive written material for the IMU manager as requested
- § Translate reports from Ar to En and vice versa and other documents as requested by management
- § Supporting information analysis officers in targeted pre-processing of assessment data sets.
- § Attending Cluster meetings, present IMU products there and engage with UN cluster co-leads
- § Presenting IMU products in professional way in English/Arabic languages in meetings
- § Preparing relevant reports/perform additional tasks as required by management.
Note: the above mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.
Qualification (Education/Work Experience)
A.Essential:**
- § A Bachleor degree in Arabic language, English, translation or any related field.
- § A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in writing/translating reports related to the syrian context.
- § Arabic language (four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing)
- § English language (four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing)
B.Desirable:
- § Master degree in Arabic language, English, translation or any related field.
- § A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in writing/translating reports related to the syrian context.
- § Turkish language (four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing)

- § High degree of knowledge on the situation inside Syria and of actors and networks (LACs, LPCs, grassroots organizations)

- § Good knowledge of skype & skype for business.
- § Trados: using Trados to translate files, create and modify translation memories on Trados.
- § Reporting skills: drafting reports with context analysis, producing recommendations, triangulating availlable data to write key findings , usage of references in reports, usage of secondary data in reports, and presenting complex information in a clear fashion.
