Organization: Badael
Country: Turkey
Closing date: 01 Oct 2018

About Badael:

Badael was founded in 2013 in response to the urgent need to support inclusive, representative, grassroots civil society groups (CSGs) active in peacebuilding and democratization in Syria. Our support has primarily focused on three activity areas: capacity building, research, and advocacy. In total, over 250 CSGs have benefited from our capacity building support. Furthermore, we have provided small-scale financial (as well as technical) support to 27 peacebuilding projects inside Syria, including several successful women-led initiatives. We have also conducted several large-scale research projects, which have been widely disseminated to range of influential stakeholders and presented in several high-profile events (including at the UN headquarters in New York). In addition, Badael has engaged in sustained advocacy efforts to generate increased support for CSGs active in peacebuilding and democratization at the international-level, primarily through participating in wider advocacy networks. More recently, Badael has also expanded its focus to include working directly on rights-based issues facing Syrian refugees in Turkey, which will constitute a major component of our activities moving forward.
