Brief description of HIH:
Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HIHFAD) operating as Hand in Hand for Syria, was established as a UK registered charity soon after the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011 by a group of British Syrians in order to deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians impacted by the conflict in Syria. From humble beginnings the charity has grown to become one of the leading humanitarian actors serving Syrian communities both inside Syria and in neighboring countries, employing over 650 staff in Syria, Turkey and the UK.
HIHFAD is implementing multi-sectoral humanitarian assistances, especially strong on Health and protection, as well as multiple projects on WASH, FSL and SNFI in northern Syria.
Purpose of the Position:
To assist the Finance officers in checking, controlling and archiving the financial voucher, and work closely with Logistic and HR department to collect the required supporting documents from related department.
Job Responsibilities:
· Maintains financial records and monitoring systems for reconciliation of expenditures, balances, payments, statements, and other day-to-day transactions and reports,
· Day-to-day invoices processing, including payments to vendors, utilities and any other liabilities of the organization,
· Daily data entry into the accounting system and tracking sheet to ensure daily submission of cash reports to Finance Officer,
· Prepare cash received vouchers, cash and check payments, and maintains daily cash reconciliation and submit documents for Finance Manager’s approval,
· Update supervisor on developments in any financial affairs that would affect the organization,
· Work closely with Finance Team during document verification by auditors,
· Maintain cash books, including control of disbursements and balancing of books and ledgers,
· Translation of financial documents as required,
· Control and check procurement document to ensure that all procurements are made as per HIHFAD’s policies and procedures,
· Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
Education:
University degree in accounting or business administration.
Experience:
· At least 1 year work experience.
· Working experience with computerized accounting systems is preferred, in specific Quickbooks.
· Previous experience working for NGOs is preferable.
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Strong computer skills.
· Fluency in Arabic is required. Working knowledge of English is preferred
