Summary and organization relation
The Communication & Media Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of the communication strategies (objectives, targets, messages, inputs etc.) and events coordination for Foundation under the direction of the Admin Manager. The Communication & Media Officer reports directly to the AM.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
● Generate media coverage in regional and national media for Maram in order to build the organization’s profile in the region.
● Develop a network of regional and international media contacts and strengthen distribution lists to ensure coverage of Maram advocacy efforts.
● Responding to inquiries, connecting press with Maram members, distributing media materials, and creating media monitoring reports.
● Manage the Foundation Website and Social Media outlets
● Facilitate media interviews for Foundation Management.
● Take part in and develop media material for Maram’s advocacy-related activities across the region, including Fact-Finding Missions, press conferences, and other events;
● Support monitoring and evaluation of Maram’s advocacy efforts, including monitoring media coverage; and Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies.
● Strengthen Maram’s presence on social media networks, including by improving existing channels and developing new platforms;
● Develop engaging and creative content – including infographics, videos, and other material – for Maram’s social media platforms;
● Manage the day-to-day outputs on Maram’s social media channels, in collaboration with the Research and Advocacy team and Maram Members.
● Produce succinct, broadcast-quality video reports on Maram’s work and activities for use across online platforms in support of campaigns, advocacy initiatives.
● Support with the design and production of Maram promotional materials and other printed outputs, such as brochures, flyers, and reports, and assist with proofreading, formatting, and distribution;
● Manage Maram’s internal communications, including the production of a monthly email newsletter to Maram members;
● Edit, proofread, and finalize internal Maram documents, including donor reports, activity reports, agendas, and concept notes;
● Carry out other duties, including program design and support in coordination with other Secretariat staff, as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
At least 3 years of relevant communications related work experience;
• Experience in international work environments and intercultural communication;
• Experience with media an additional asset.
Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills;
• Innovative and creative thinking in relation to communication,
• Proven excellence in writing and editing skills in English.
• Good knowledge of computer tools, web and layout design an asset
Independent professional to contribute to the overall goal of the organization;
• Capacity to work in a multi-cultural environment;
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
