WORK CONTEXT
Cesvi has been working in Palestine since 1994 and it has developed over the years an expertise in the area of solid waste management, water and sanitation. Cesvi implemented various projects in partnership with relevant actors in the sector and active participation in the WASH cluster and other coordination networks.
The implemented activities are mainly: construction of water treatment systems, pipelines and sanitation facilities, distribution of household water treatment and safe storage units, implementation of behaviour change approaches to improve sanitation and hygiene in remote areas. Development or improvement of solid waste management systems – including strategies and plans – construction of facilities (e.g. transfer stations) and implementation of hygiene awareness campaigns.
Cesvi is currently implementing projects in the Governorates of Tulkarem and Hebron, in East Jerusalem, in Shufat Refugee Camp and Gaza, in consortium with local and international partners. The ongoing projects are funded by AICS (Italian Cooperation), EU, UNICEF and the World Bank.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The collaboration will start at the end of June 2019.
The main duty station will be Jerusalem with weekly missions to Tulkarem, Hebron and other cities in West Bank.
Main tasks and duties:
- Support the Project managers during the preparation and submission of activities reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual reports);
- Assist the project manager in data collection and field monitoring missions;
- Provide support to the MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning) officer in keeping all the activity-related databases up to date according to the approved formats and internal guidelines and dedicated learning and communication sheets;
- Assist in the preparation of meetings, workshops, and training courses;
- Contribute to the dissemination and preparation of various communications, based on agreed key messages;
- Contribute to the achievement of the organization’s overall communication strategy, creation of tools and implementation of activities;
- Participate in needs assessments and project proposal writing as required;
- Support the development and management of contact database, donor mapping and project abstracts;
- Support data collection and interviews to beneficiaries for communication porpoise.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
University Degree in human right law, social science, development studies or another relevant topic
Previous volunteer experience abroad, ideally in the Middle East
Interest in Development Cooperation, in particular in wash, environment or waste sectors
Report writing skills
Fluency in written and spoken English
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Strong organizational skills
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Respectful and able to stand-by safety and security rules
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of Middle East
Master Degree in International Cooperation
Knowledge of Arabic
