For the period from August 2019 to October 2019 SPARK is looking for a Communication Intern to support SPARK with the organisation of the annual IGNITE MENA conference in particular and its communication activities in general.
The Communication Intern will focus on organising the logistics and practicalities of SPARK’s IGNITE MENA conference, including visibility activities, visa, travel and accommodation requirements. This intern will ideally have prior experience in organising events or other relevant organisational skills.
Being part of SPARK’s team, the Communication intern will support the team with communications tasks as required. In addition, the intern will assist with general office tasks and other requests from our 17 global offices. SPARK offers the intern the opportunity to work with young people from various countries, to challenge her/himself within the context of a vibrant and growing NGO, as well as to build personal relationships with our international staff.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in organising the logistics of SPARK’s IGNITE MENA conference (including venue management, visa and travel requests, hotel bookings etc.)
- Assist with managing the central database for the IGNITE MENA conference logistics
- Assist with organising volunteer teams
- Assist with providing communication & PR support for the IGNITE MENA conference;
- Assist with the production of promotional materials, support the visibility campaign of the conference;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s programme, preferably in Event management, Business or Communication studies, or a field relevant to the internship;
- Full professional proficiency in English;
- Proven experience in event management or other relevant organisational skills are desired;
- Familiarity with Google Drive & Docs is desirable;
- Experience with WordPress and MailChimp is an advantage;
- Social media experience is an advantage;
- Good communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting;
- Ability to work independently;
- Eligible to work in the Turkey.
