Turkey: Project Officer

Role Purpose:

The Project Officer will support and supervise in the implementation of program activities, supporting partners, data collection, organizing evaluations and support communications activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow-up project planning and management of implementation sector projects.
  • Identify gaps in the management of projects and supporting the field team in addressing these gaps.
  • Prepare field reports for projects and assisting in editing.
  • Provide close support to program managers.
  • Provide support to project includes guidance on project start-up, compliance reporting and documentation requirements and grant life cycle management.
  • Follow up of 4W provided by donors.
  • Provide close coordination between main office in Turkey and support offices and colleagues inside Syria.
  • Attend cluster coordination meetings, when assigned to, to ensure adequate reporting to team on outcomes, and convey recommendations and improvement areas and mechanisms to SEMA.
  • Support the finance department by coordinating project budget’s as assigned by line manager and coordination with other departments within the organization, where needed.
  • Conduct regular field visits to make sure all program activities are on time, being managed well and to assess any issues or challenges.
  • Assist in proposal’s writing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of SEMA’s quality of work.
  • Promote and model a positive, professional and respectful office culture.
  • Any other duties assigned by line manager when required

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies:

  • A Bachelor degree from a recognized university with at least 2 years of experience in a similar position and duties in NGOs or INGOs
  • Strong Knowledge in key donor reporting rules and regulations e.g. ECHO, UNPFA, DFID, UNICEF, OFDA...., will be a plus.
  • Rich experience in Project management methodologies and standards (preferably Project Management for Development certificate would be an asset),
  • Ability to take initiative and work without supervision.
  • People management skills that include diplomacy
  • Ability to work with diverse people, communities, and cultures, with an understanding of cultural awareness practices.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint),
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent skills in English and Arabic
