II. Organizational Context and Scope
Following the adoption of the 2014 UN Security Council Resolution 2165, UN agencies and their partners were authorized to provide Cross-Border humanitarian relief inside of Syria. With the support of our donors, IOM provides assistance to Syrians through cross border operations from Turkey. Moreover, IOM implements a set of tools and methods to track and assess affected populations for the purpose of providing assistance. Eight years into the crisis, the humanitarian situation has continued to deteriorate in Syria with intensified fighting, high levels of violence, and widespread disregard for the rules of international law.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office (ESEM Region) and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for designing templates which can be used for external and internal products as well as developing and delivering a training for the programme team.
III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Review existing products and using feedback from stakeholders, create automated Adobe templates for regular publications, such as mobility and services monitoring reports.
Work closely with the Reporting Team to design and develop products that illustrate new displacement trends or other rapid information updates.
Define product visual identity, and ensure all documents are harmonized along the programme brand identity, and in line with the latest IOM style guide.
Provide training for staff on Adobe Software and implementing newly designed analysis tools.
Perform such other duties as may be required.
Tangible and measurable outputs of the work assignment
Produce visual products to creatively translate technical and program-related content into visually compelling digital and print products
Support in the review and design products;
Produce and create automized data visualization tools to be used in the programme products;
Train and provide technical coaching and support to the Team;
Create and deliver staff development training on:
· Intermediate-level Adobe Illustrator and InDesign: Creating a design, combining shapes and paths, product development, creating user-friendly and descriptive infographics, standardizing report layout, etc.
· Introduction of new tools, including instruction on the harmonization between data and Adobe Illustrator templates.
Product development
Product review and tool development will be completed using various computer programs including, word, excel (for the data analysis), ArcGIS, InDesign and Illustrator for the visualization.
Performance indicators for evaluation of results
The Consultant (Data Visualization) will be measured according to his/her work and ability to produce the products and training in a timely manner. Performance indicators would be such as:
· Development of data visualization processes;
· Regular engagement with Reporting Team to improve on visual product development;
· Timely submission of proposed training agenda;
· Conduct intermediate-level training of Adobe Illustration and InDesign, as well as present data visualization tools.
IV. Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
· Master’s degree in Art, Graphic Design, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or
· University degree in the above fields with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
· Relevant experience in Data visualization training and tool development;
· Experience integrating analytical software (such as R or SPSS) with mapping components;
· Experience in editing and designing infographics, maps and other data analysis platforms using Adobe Illustrator;
V. Languages
Required
Fluency in English is required.
Working knowledge of Turkish or Arabic is an advantage.

The consultant must adhere to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Data Protection Principles (IN/138) and maintain confidentiality.
The consultant will be responsible to follow IOM writing guidelines and latest glossaries in all given assignments for accurate translation.
The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
