JOB BRIEF
The Karam Scholars Manager is a caring, self-motivated professional who believes in assisting Syrian refugees towards achieving higher education.
S/he will take the lead in developing the strategy for the program as it aligns with the organization's overall vision; take the lead in communicating and reporting with our scholarship recipients and monitoring their progress, providing college preparatory training workshops and professional development seminars, and creating the tools and systems to make it all possible. Our goal is to effectively assist students into higher education, in a rapidly growing and developing program. S/he will make programmatic and budgetary decisions about the direction and nature of supporting each student.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Management
Manage a small, remote, team by: setting team and individual work-plans, and leading weekly team check-ins
Coach and mentor team members
Ensure quality team member performance
Conduct quarterly visits to each location to oversee and manage the program quality
Conduct bi-annual reviews of team members
Program Strategy
Ensure program activities are implemented with high quality within timeline, scope and budget.
Organize & develop the various program activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
including but not limited to: scholarship application process, student volunteerism, college preparatory workshops, professional development seminars, focus group discussions, academic counseling, and more.
Develop annual program strategy and operating plan based on needs studies each academic year cycle and within budget constraints
Develop new program activities to support the strategic direction of the organization.
Manage spending in accordance with program budget.
Coordinate & collaborate with other teams to develop interdepartmental programming
Conduct professional development seminars for scholarship recipients a

Producing timely and accurate monthly and quarterly programmatic reports
Monitoring and Evaluation
Develop an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Review scholarship recipients’ academic performance, attendance, and volunteerism data
Communications
Complete donor and grant programmatic reports
Meeting with donors to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
Work with the Development team on writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services
Working with media team to develop media strategy and relevant content for website, social media, and success story database
Other
Attend relevant conferences & working groups on behalf of the organization
Attending professional development training as needed**
REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirement: Master’s degree
Understanding of how Turkish higher educational system functions
Understanding the difficulties of refugee’s access to education
Proven experience in program management.
Understanding of project management.
Experience managing remote team members
Competence in Google Drive Applications (documents, spreadsheets)
Ability to read/write in Arabic, Turkish, and English

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs
LOCATION: Karam House Istanbul
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Saturday through Wednesday
COMPENSATION: Based on the candidate's level of experience, qualifications, and the organization's salary scale in Turkish Lira.
