Support to Life (STL) is an independent humanitarian agency working in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and emergency response in Turkey and the surrounding region. With an emphasis on community participation, STL works at a grassroots level to build local capacity, mitigate the risks and impact of disasters, and support those in need in meeting their basic needs and rights.

In line with its mandate STL currently has the following main activities:

· Relief aid and protection for Syrian refugees: in response to the increasing number of refugees in Turkey, STL is supporting refugees living outside camps in the Turkish border area with a food security programme, and providing psychosocial support through the establishment of Community Centres;

· Child labour in seasonal agricultural work: STL has been working with at-risk children, sensitising farmers and raising awareness among the public in an effort to contribute to eliminating child labour;

· Civil Society Disaster Platform: in collaboration with partners, STL has launched a platform that will bring together civil society actors in sharing information and coordinating projects related to disaster management in Turkey.

Support To Life is wishing to expand its Quality Management Department. The department ensures at the same time a technical support to the projects - by producing different tools and building capacities of the team - MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) and the development of organisational policies, processes, guidelines and tools. STL is looking for an intern for supporting this part of the department.

1.Development of organisational policies, processes, guidelines and tools

· Follows up developments in humanitarian policy and practice related to STLs work.

· Assists in the development of organisational policies, processes, guidelines and tools as required.

· Conducts desk research related to appropriate policies, processes, guidelines and tools, including on: Humanitarian Standards, Project Cycle Management (PCM), other cross cutting organisational policies and procedures.

· Drafts relevant outputs (briefing papers, recommendations, tools, presentations etc).

2.Capacity building

· Supports the department in the development and preparation of relevant trainings within the scope of new policies created.

· Supports the QMC in the preparation of orientation packages as required.

· Supports the logistical and administrative organisation of quality management-related orientation and training sessions, in collaboration with the HR department.

3.Other

· Attending relevant meetings with the stakeholders and take detailed notes for preparing comprehensive minutes.

· Conducting any other professional task requested by Quality Management department staff.

Minimum requirements:

· University education and/or training in a relevant field (Humanitarian aid, international relationships, social science);

· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Turkish would be an asset.

· Ability to operate as part of a team in a multi-cultural, values driven work environment, and to perform tasks in sensitivity to the local culture;

· Proficiency in common IT hardware/software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).

· Excellent analytical, reporting/communication/note taking and interpersonal skills.

Competencies:

· Good understanding of and engagement with the humanitarian context and the key principles of accountability, impartiality, neutrality, independence and cooperation;

· Intercultural understanding, sensitivity and adaptability;

· Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and detail orientation;

· Strong commitment to teamwork and coordination;

· Excellent and adaptable communication skills;

· Ability to manage self under pressure and stress, and maintains ethical and professional conduct;
