An Obstetrician/Gynecologist (Ob-Gyn) or a Medical doctor with experience in reproductive health will primarily focus on trickling down trainings in Syrian hospitals, monitoring, on job mentoring and supportive supervision of health care service providers looking after reproductive health. He/She will be monitoring, supervising and providing on job mentoring of the health care service providers who are responsible for the health of the mother in the pre-pregnancy phase, as well as the child during the antenatal period, labor, delivery and the immediate post-partum period through guiding the service providers about the direct care, patient education, appropriate referrals, post abortion care, diseases related to the female reproductive tract and Family Planning needs of the women. He/She will be responsible for RH data collection, compilation and dissemination of the assigned facilities. Overall he/she will be responsible for quality assurance of RH activities/services in the assigned facilities.
Trickling down trainings to service providers in Syrian health facilities on EMoC, Use of parto-graph, post abortion care using MVA and IUCD insertion/removal.
Ensure the health service providers are providing high quality medical consultations including analysis of relevant patient history/records, appropriate physical exam and investigations to provide accurate diagnosis (or diagnoses) for diseases related to the female reproductive tract as well as general diseases such as hypertension, cancers, UTIs, diabetes, etc
Ensure that the service providers are providing the patients with appropriate treatment, explanation of all medications, investigation results, referral for further care and required follow up
Ensure that the service providers provides specific guidance to pregnant women regarding importance of ante natal visits, facility delivery, important warning signs of pregnancy and post natal visits in order to keep both mother and child healthy
Ensure the service providers are providing advice to patients and community members regarding importance of women health, ante natal and post natal visits, Family Planning preferences, Health timing and spacing between pregnancies along with the general topics concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention (such as need for vaccination, smoking cessation, etc.)
Ensure the service providers are tracking daily patient data using tally sheets or other tools provided
Ensure the service providers are monitoring diagnostic trends and report to supervisor as needed
Ensure the service providers adhere to rational drug usage protocols
Ensure the service providers submit reports in a timely manner
Ensure the service providers participate in educational sessions for staff and patients as directed by supervisor and/or as per program needs
Ensure the service providers attend training sessions as required by supervisor and/or as per program needs
Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services
Adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, service provider communications, re-stocking of necessary drugs, consumables and other items
Adhere to IMC Code of Conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles
Ensure the service providers provide all services to patients free of charge
Provide on job mentoring of the service providers when and where needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of medical doctor , preferable Obstetrics and Gynecology specialization with a valid license
Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience working as an OBGYN in public or private health facilities
Must be able to submit patient data and facilities reports as and when required
Must be able to provide technical support to health providers who refer patients
Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Must have the flexibility and ability to work effectively with various personalities and cultures
