Job Purpose:
The Country Director has the overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of the B&Z Turkey to achieve the organizational vision, mission and objectives. The CD is responsible for the programmatic and operational management in Turkey. S/he represents B&Z with Government, Local and international Organisations in Turkey. S/he will take a leading role in developing, overseeing implementation, reviewing and monitoring of the Country Programme strategy and ensuring the same in line with HQ strategic directions and overall thematic focus. S/He will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
- Provide Leadership in the development and implementation of the B&Z country strategy in line with the overall B&Z Strategic Plan and the context in the country/region based on needs of the communities in the areas of operation.
- Manages and leads the implementation.
- Represents Basmeh & Zeitooneh in meetings and conferences with donors, INGO’s, NGO's, local partners and governmental authorities.
- Responsible for overseeing the management of human resources
- Liaises with Senior Management and Field Staff, and ensures the availability of the resources, skills, and tools to ensure the achievement of all program objectives and the organization’s mission.
- Ensures the financial feasibility of all programs; ensures all programs are within budget and that funds are managed in a highly transparent manner.
- Collaborates with the Development and Finance departments to produce Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s annual financial and narrative reports detailing the organization’s activities.
- Identifies specific capacity building requirements of operational staff and ensure that staff capacity is improved through various approaches including on the job training.
- Ensures the proper handover of new programs/projects from the development department to the country’s operational staff.
- Supervises staff in implementing projects and all technical and operational aspects of the projects.
- Organizes and accompanies partners and potential donors in field visits that promote Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s work.
- Initiates relationships with donors interested in funding projects in Turkey in coordination with the Senior Management.
- Evaluates and monitor all country programs to determine the extent to which they are meeting goals and determine action needed to improve achievements
- Keeps regular communication with donors regarding the operational updates of the ongoing projects.
- Ensures the continued safety of all personnel, establish, and implement emergency security evacuation plans as appropriate.
- Ensures security guidelines are up to date and fully implemented.
- Regularly reports to Senior Management regarding safety and security and managerial achievements.
- Manages and appraise the operations’ staff
- Supports admin appraisal for other departments
- Prepares presentation for the B&Z’s profile and achievements to be presented to donors and stakeholders
- Creates operational plan and update it in cooperation with development department and field team.
- Create contingency plans for the operations.
- Keeps on monthly meetings with staff .
- Ensures the safety and security of the team and the legal situation of B&Z through creating safety and security plans.
- Conduct performance review for center managers and project managers twice a year.
Produce one comprehensive multi sectorial need assessment report for each of the areas of operations.
The CD represents the highest level of decision-making authority of B&Z in Turkey, yet key decisions should be shared with the chief operations officer and the leadership team.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, International Relations, International Development, Economics or any other related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in management within the nonprofit sector.
- Thorough understanding of humanitarian issues, strategies and of non-governmental organizations.
Required Skills: * Strong planning, writing and reporting skills * Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel) and web based applications * Fluency in English and Arabic, ability to produce written reports in English is essential * Previous experience working with NGOs is essential. * Experience with operations, logistics, security management * Experience supervising, motivating, and bringing together teams * Ability to take initiative and identify solutions to challenges * Build good cooperative relations with donors, stakeholders, Turkish authorities and local institutions * Good organizational and time management skills * Excellent social and interpersonal skills
