Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host community through 20 healthcare facility and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Responsibilities:

The Program Assistant role is Following-up project planning and management of implementation sector projects. The following is a brief description of the role.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Identify gaps in the management of projects and supporting the field team in addressing these gaps.
  • Prepare field reports for projects and assisting in editing.
  • Provide close support to program managers.
  • Provide support to the project includes guidance on project start-up, compliance reporting and documentation requirements and grant life cycle management.
  • Deliver all the IRs related to his assignment in collaboration with the line manager.
  • Follow up the BVAs with the operation department, and ensure obtaining the accrual expenditure into the spending plans.
  • Follow up of 4W provided by donors.
  • Provide close coordination between the main office in Turkey and support offices and colleagues inside Syria.
  • Attend cluster coordination meetings, when assigned to, to ensure adequate reporting to the team on outcomes, and convey recommendations and improvement areas and mechanisms to IDA.
  • Support the finance department by coordinating project budget’s as assigned by the line manager and coordination
  • with other departments within the organization, where needed.
  • Conduct regular field visits to make sure all program activities are on time, being managed well and to assess
  • any issues or challenges.
  • Assist in proposals writing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IDA’s quality of work.
  • Promote and model a positive, professional and respectful office culture.
  • Any other duties assigned by line manager when required

Qualifications:

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • B.A in Business Administration or other related fields with 2 years of experience
  • Experience working within a humanitarian context;
  • Experience of activities relating to specific sectors of humanitarian work.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is essential, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills, including Excel and Word.

Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the context in North-West of Syria; North, North West of Aleppo & Idleb Governorate in particular
  • Good standing and reputation in the community
  • Experience in working with local partners;
  • Experience in conducting assessments and monitoring activities;
