The Opportunity
This role will provide field-focussed coordination and partners support in large-scale emergency in the North West of Syria, where Save the Children implements through a network of local partners on the ground. The WASH coordinator will be expected to lead on sectoral assessments, programme design, concept notes/proposals and budgeting, coordination, project implementation (with partners) and support procurement.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience of working in WASH-related humanitarian programmes with progressively responsible experience, preferably in the context of Northwest Syria
- Previous experience on WASH project management
- Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability in a WASH context
- Previous experience in WATSAN, Hygiene Promotions design and implementation programming.
- Ability to work both in an advisory and a hands-on implementation capacity
- Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills
- Experience of training and capacity building WASH staff (external and internal)
- Knowledge of institutional donors and experience of developing proposals
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
- Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Arabic, with experience in working with multicultural teams
- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
We offer a competitive package in the context of the sector at the pay-grade of the position, transportation allowance as per relevant internal policy and 20 days of annual leave per year.
Position holder will be based in Antakya/Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of application.
