English – Turkish Translator

RET International, www.theRET.org, headquartered in Geneva Switzerland, with offices around the world, is an independent, impartial, non-partisan organisation, with no religious or political affiliation. RET International was founded in 2000, by Mrs Sadako Ogata, then High Commissioner of UNHCR, to address the dire need for education in emergencies in fragile contexts for vulnerable young people affected by displacement, violence, armed conflict and disasters.

Job Description:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the English-Turkish Translator supports the project on communication and documentation issues.
Assist in communication with RET local staff, beneficiaries, or any relevant parties
Assist in documentation and research necessary for the project
Assist in collection of information and data
Assist in planning and conducting visits at project sites
Support conducting activities and events at the project sites
To carry-out administrative duties as required
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Translations, English Literature or social sciences, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in an English speaking context
Experience working at international development programs highly desirable
Excellent spoken and written skills in Turkish and English
Any other language such as Arabic and/or Kurdish, are an asset
PC proficiency, including Word processing (MS Word or equivalent) and basic knowledge of spread sheets MS excel
Good strategic and analytical thinking
Flexibility in responding to urgent needs and tasks
Ability to prioritize work and to meet tight deadlines
Attention to details and cultural differences and contexts
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Respectful and supportive team player
